Seriously, what is wrong with you people?!
THIS MOVIE SUCKED!
-----------SPOILERS BELOW-----------
While this movie was entertaining to watch, it was awful and utterly pointless.
For starters, the movie begins with a whole lot of corny one-liners and cheesy directing.
“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” -President
“No father, it’s what you want” -Angel, referring to the cure
There's more, but I won't go on with that.
Those alone don't really ruin the film, however. What DID ruin the film was the butchering, and that can almost be taken literally.
Just when the movie is getting interesting, they kill off Xavier! Can you believe it? Prior to that, they made us assume that they killed off Cyclops after making a 2 minute appearance. Later at the end, they kill off Jean Grey. Who does this director think he is to do this?!
In the meanwhile, a lot of mutants, important ones, get cured, which is almost like killing them off too. Mystique, Magneto, and Rogue, among others, were cured. So here we have 6 major characters being killed off in one way or another.
It gets worse. Throughout the entire movie, characters just aren't who they were. Pyro seems to absolutely hate Ice Man, and they didn't explain why. There was no character development. Sure, he is on Magneto's side, but seeing the world differently wouldn't make him hate his old friend with a passion. They should have put some story into it. And Wolverine is basically Cyclops in this one. He and Storm just won't stop with the corny, poorly written pep talks.
Phoenix seems to have been introduced for no reason whatsoever, except to die and kill off two major characters, along with others. Just compare her introduction to Nightcrawler's. He was brought in because Striker needed him in order to frame the mutants by manipulating him to attack the president. That was good writing. There was a reason for his introduction. In this movie, Phoenix just comes in for no reason, unless you call vaporizing Xavier and others a "reason." I just call that bad writing.
Still, it gets worse.
The whole movie revolved around the cure and the deaths. But guess what, the cure doesn't last, as this was implied when Magneto could still movie the chess piece, and those who were dead will make a poorly-written return, if X-Men 4 ever gets made. Xavier threw his entity into a coma guy's body. From now on, Xavier will be inside another body. It doesn‘t get much crappier than that. Cyclops wasn't actually shown to be killed, so we can be sure he'll make a "I was just knocked unconscious for 7 days" kind of return. Jean Grey, well, I will take a wild guess and say the Phoenix will revive her.
In other words, nothing really happens in this movie, except the storyline is butchered. All will be somewhat back to normal. Don’t any of you find it dumb when they pull this “we only made you think this person was dead” kind of crap? It’s almost like when we see a sequence that turns out to be a dream. Well, if it didn’t really happen, then why write it in? It’s a waste of time and story.
Also, Angel didn’t play a real role in this film. It wasn’t a big deal, but it doesn’t live up to it’s hype.
A lot of moviegoers were compelled by the controversial cure, which was a good plot, but was poorly executed, like Xavier.
In the end, it was entertaining to watch another X-Men movie, but if you are older than 13, or have a mentally more mature than a 13 year old, you will leave the theatre disappointed. This director wanted to make a touching, emotional film with a whole lot of explosions, and all we got were the explosions.
Now we have to wait 8 years so they can start off with the X-Men Begins series.
