Seriously, what is wrong with you people?!

THIS MOVIE SUCKED!

-----------SPOILERS BELOW-----------

While this movie was entertaining to watch, it was awful and utterly pointless.

For starters, the movie begins with a whole lot of corny one-liners and cheesy directing.

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” -President
“No father, it’s what you want” -Angel, referring to the cure

There's more, but I won't go on with that.

Those alone don't really ruin the film, however. What DID ruin the film was the butchering, and that can almost be taken literally.

Just when the movie is getting interesting, they kill off Xavier! Can you believe it? Prior to that, they made us assume that they killed off Cyclops after making a 2 minute appearance. Later at the end, they kill off Jean Grey. Who does this director think he is to do this?!

In the meanwhile, a lot of mutants, important ones, get cured, which is almost like killing them off too. Mystique, Magneto, and Rogue, among others, were cured. So here we have 6 major characters being killed off in one way or another.

It gets worse. Throughout the entire movie, characters just aren't who they were. Pyro seems to absolutely hate Ice Man, and they didn't explain why. There was no character development. Sure, he is on Magneto's side, but seeing the world differently wouldn't make him hate his old friend with a passion. They should have put some story into it. And Wolverine is basically Cyclops in this one. He and Storm just won't stop with the corny, poorly written pep talks.

Phoenix seems to have been introduced for no reason whatsoever, except to die and kill off two major characters, along with others. Just compare her introduction to Nightcrawler's. He was brought in because Striker needed him in order to frame the mutants by manipulating him to attack the president. That was good writing. There was a reason for his introduction. In this movie, Phoenix just comes in for no reason, unless you call vaporizing Xavier and others a "reason." I just call that bad writing.

Still, it gets worse.

The whole movie revolved around the cure and the deaths. But guess what, the cure doesn't last, as this was implied when Magneto could still movie the chess piece, and those who were dead will make a poorly-written return, if X-Men 4 ever gets made. Xavier threw his entity into a coma guy's body. From now on, Xavier will be inside another body. It doesn‘t get much crappier than that. Cyclops wasn't actually shown to be killed, so we can be sure he'll make a "I was just knocked unconscious for 7 days" kind of return. Jean Grey, well, I will take a wild guess and say the Phoenix will revive her.

In other words, nothing really happens in this movie, except the storyline is butchered. All will be somewhat back to normal. Don’t any of you find it dumb when they pull this “we only made you think this person was dead” kind of crap? It’s almost like when we see a sequence that turns out to be a dream. Well, if it didn’t really happen, then why write it in? It’s a waste of time and story.

Also, Angel didn’t play a real role in this film. It wasn’t a big deal, but it doesn’t live up to it’s hype.

A lot of moviegoers were compelled by the controversial cure, which was a good plot, but was poorly executed, like Xavier.

In the end, it was entertaining to watch another X-Men movie, but if you are older than 13, or have a mentally more mature than a 13 year old, you will leave the theatre disappointed. This director wanted to make a touching, emotional film with a whole lot of explosions, and all we got were the explosions.

Now we have to wait 8 years so they can start off with the X-Men Begins series.

^^^i disagree. there were a lot of slow and disappointing parts, but overall i thought the movie was good...not great, but good.

SPOILER

and regarding the cure not lasting, the people did not know it was only temporary, so that doesn't take away from the movie.

I was disappointed that there weren't really any sentinels except for in that one scene in the danger room, and I was also pissed that Colossus barely got any screentime at all, did he even have any lines? Also, I could have sworn I heard Omega Red was gonna be in the movie.

I finally saw it on bootleg.. And honestly I think it sucked.. It was nowhere anywhere near as good as the 1st two.. It was just so slow and some of the scenes and dialog were kinda corny.. Plus most of the movie was predictable..

Like Shahin said, they didnt really concentrate on other characters.. It was always Wolverine, Storm, and Magneto.. And Jean Grey of course, but she hardly said anything the whole movie..

Also their werent any real scenes that made me say "Woah"... In X-Man 2 I said "Woah" in the first 15 minutes, but this one I wasnt too impressed.. I'm glad I saw it on bootleg instead of paying $9.50..

I seen this film for the first time last night, and wish to comment on a few things I noticed, I wont bother with spoilers:

I thought the film was great, thats one.

The scene where Jean is Kissing Scott on Alkali Lake; Scott's appearence seems to starts to change (on account of Jean) into that of Wolverine, before the scene is cut short. Did anyone else notice this? Also Jean killing people, it's like she just disintigrated them with a thought; I not seen that in the comic books.

I was gonna comment on what the Moira Taggart scene at the end was all about, but after reading it was Charles' voice, the whole thing with the unconscience patient, and Xavier's conversation with Storm in the hallway makes sense. It's like the Professor knew all along that Jean was coming back to kick his ass for playing with (affecting) her mind/powers.

Jean kicked ass in this movie, but the storyline is very similar to the periodicals Marvel have been publishing in Essential Xmen recently. I read a story not so long ago where Wolvie had no choice but to spike Jean; no surprises there.

Oh, and yeah ... where was Omega Red? I seen cast-lists noting him starring.

just saw the movie at the theater (yes.. 2 months later but my mom paid) and umm... its all good and now that i read all of you saying there was a special ending at the end of the credits, i'm really pissed i didnt stay

but the movie was great, and at the end is magneto moving the piece of chess? seems like it or at least he tries.

but in overall its a good movie. but it sucks that so many characters have not yet made their appaerance.

so whats the secret ending at the end of the credits?

i'm a long time x-men fan, and i thought it sucked. seemed like they tried to fit too many story lines into one movie and rushed certain things.

the story itself was gay..

"Well, how should we end the fight?"

"Um, let's take away Magneto's powers."

"We can't do that. It just wouldn't fly. There has to be a better way to do it."

"There probably is, but that'll either take too long or involve too much thought. Let's just take 'em, and after it's all done we can just say it didn't work right and he gets them back. The dumbass fans won't even noticed that it's half-assed."

"Yeah, you're right. Let's just add a bunch of cool special effects and a reference to it earlier in the movie to cover it up."

And was anyone else pissed that there were Sentinels in the danger room but NO WHERE in the "real" parts of the movies? Not even mentioned.

Yes, especially since they used the clip of Wolvie decapitating a Sentinel in one of the preview clips. The lack of Omega Red annoyed me too.
