I don't consider DMX to be a great lyricist because he doesn't use complex word schemes in his rhymes, but rather relies on his energy and concise diction to convey his message. A great lyricist would be Masta Killa, GZA, Canibus, and guys like that. DMX is a great MC, no doubt, but not a classic lyricist.

If oyu listen to DMX for lyricism you are missing the point of him as a rapper. He is emotion, raw energy, and how you relate, he isnt a lyricist at all, or I dont think he tries to be, he just says some real shit and if it's lyrically tight then so be it.
