I don't consider DMX to be a great lyricist because he doesn't use complex word schemes in his rhymes, but rather relies on his energy and concise diction to convey his message. A great lyricist would be Masta Killa, GZA, Canibus, and guys like that. DMX is a great MC, no doubt, but not a classic lyricist.

DMX is definately in my top 5 dead or alive.

His 2nd verse on 'Let Me Fly' is one of my favorite rap verses of all time:

"Let me Fly" is by far my favorite DMX track, just one of my favorites tracks for period.

Not the greatest lyricism but he says some real shit with emotion and just puts it out how it should be, its just great to listen to. I wish we had this X back.

I do.....all the damn time(bout Biggie being the GOAT). And no one saids that DRE is top25 lyricist.
