I've had Google Books for at least 6 weeks already. I had to use MarketEnabler to get it from the US Market, but still.

Oh wait, they're simply saying the Market is getting a Books category.

Anyway, after more playing around with Gingerbread, it's my favorite update for a while. There's SO many minor UI updates and little
graphical improvements here and there that actually make a massive difference to the "feel" of the device. With my LCD Density set to 200 rather than the standard 240, My G2 looks and feels like a beautiful industrial-yet-sleek powerhouse of a machine.

I would recommend that all of you change your LCD density to 200. There's apps in the market to do so.
 
Pittsey, I recall you talking about games. Theres some good ones out there; NOVA, Asphalt HD, Modern Combat: Sandstarm. I'd put them on par graphically with the Nintendo DS.

Can any one point my in the direction of the 3D version of Assasins Creed? I can only find the 2D version on Applanet.
 
So I get a free phone. The two I'm looking at are the Nexus S or the Galaxy S 4G. I don't plan on keeping the phone long, I am going to resell it in a couple months. I'm getting it tomorrow so I don't have time to wait for something else. I read that there is going to be a Nexus S 4G coming out soon so I'm thinking the Nexus S might have a lower resale value. There is the Galaxy S update situation against the Nexus S but I'm not too worried about that to be honest. The phones are basically the same except the 4G and one is a lot newer, I don't know. I think I'm gonna go with the Galaxy S 4G, I think I'll be bale to get more for it down the line, especially since it's a bigger name in the general market, it seems people only in the know actually know the Nexus S even exists.

However if you have a G2 the Nexus S/Galaxy S might win you over :p At least I know that I wouldn't say "I don't plan on keeping the phone long" with these Samsungs. I was also reasonable while buying my phones but to me new Samsungs are just so much more amazing than any other phone. But maybe it's just me. They pack the most jawdropping value imo.
It was Samsung Wave that started it for me - despite having an OS that had nothing to do that phone was so awesome that I could stare at its screen for hours and I've instantly sacrificed my older Android phone for it. The Galaxy S family is like a bigger Android brother.
If you want to keep your G2 I wouldn't play with these Samsungs, seriously :p
 
Well I'm selling my G2 and keeping the new one, either or. So you think I'll be able to get more for the Nexus S? Explain to me why please. It's older, doesn't have 4G, is basically the same. I understand it is the Google Device but will it make it that much more?

They play flawlessly. But at 7 inches. Which means I have 3 inches of black screen around the outsides. Or 1.5 inches. But you get the point.

I presumed it was an issue with Froyo not supporting the 10 inch screen. And why they had to create honeycomb.

Well, I'm not sure about the 4G version of Galaxy S because we don't have it here but I'm pretty sure that the Nexus S should sell at pretty high price tag. It's also a relatively new phone and it's pretty specific. Just a gut feeling.
It's a Google device and it's aimed at the high-end. Nexus One here was also more expensive than the Desire.
Also, Samsung have released a dock for the Nexus S which costs 40$, talking about expensive, lol.
 
The Nexus S is a Google Experience phone, and you can expect timely updates for it. 2.3.3 is already going to be pushed out in a bit. The Nexus S can go for 500 to 700$ on Ebay.

For people who don't root their phones (which is most people), the Nexus S gives them the opportunity to be on a newer version before anyone, unlike Samsung, Motorola, Sony Ericsson who are never on time. HTC on the other hand tend to do a good job with updates, better than the other manifacturers, no doubt.

So, for that reason, I think you can get more out of it. Shit, even the Nexus 1 still goes for 400$, and that is as well receiving all the updates.
 
Plus, if you'd decide to keep it I think that you will like the Nexus S more than the Galaxy S. It's of a bit better quality, design makes Iphone chicks jealous and there's no TouchWiz which makes it more customizable and out of the box probably saves a little performance and battery life. Not like battery life is an issue for Samsung phones anyway though but still the point remains.
I have Samsung Wave at the moment (which has the same internals) and I charge it once in 4-5 days with average use. Android drains battery faster but easily getting 2-3 days of battery life with above average usage would be my bet with Nexus S.
It is one of the best Android choices at the moment. If not the best granted that it will always be the first one to receive updates.

there are problems with the unrevoked software it seems. it doesnt reboot the phone. maybe its just that im on a 64 bit version of windows. installed the modded drivers and did all the necessary prerequisites... just didnt want to detect the phone and reboot it.
 
I agree that you'll get more money for the Nexus S. There's more exclusivity with it as well, it's a harder to find device.
 
I got the Galaxy S 4G. A little bit of a back story as to why I got this instead of the Nexus S. I picked up the G2 for free on Valentines Day weekend or Father's Day or whatever promo it was T-Mob was running. My friend wanted to add a line to mine and my sisters family plan so I said cool but wait til this phone comes out cus I'd rather have this over the G2. Then I was like man the Nexus S is there and got caught up in that decision. Anyway I sold the G2 to my friend for 200 so I could buy either the Nexus or the 4G. I went to Best Buy to get he Nexus S but the only one they had in stock was all fucked up, it looked used and dropped, but they guy insisted it was brand new, I aint no sucka so I said peace. They wanted to order me one but I have time to wait. I went to Radio Shack instead cus the dude at Best Buy was annoying me so I checked out the 4G and found out it would be 149 instead of the 199 it would be at T-Mob... and that's after the 50 dollar MIR! So I was like fuck it my decision is made. When all is said and done the cute little new chick at Radio Shack was all 113 please. I'm thinking wtf, but ok. I don't know if she fucked up or just...wanted my droid so I gave her the money and was like tight. I also got a free 25 dollars in accessories so really I came up just by buying it. Now on to the phone...

It's pretty. Masta, this screen is damn gorgeous. Even through an anti glare screen protector it's fucking nice. Can't imagine what the SAMOLED Plus looks like, I'm even more excited for the Galaxy S II. The phone very light, feels like it's nothing sort of. It doesn't really feel cheap but I'd like a little more weight to it. Maybe I'm just a little shocked because the G2 is such a heavy phone and this seems like it's nothing compared to it. The back looks way cleaner than what the Vibrant has. Touchwiz is booty, can't wait to put a decent ROM on this thing, got a different launcher so that will have to suffice for now. Samsung makes Android look so fucking generic it's unbelievable. And the bloatware, my god © Pusha T. It says it comes with 1gb of memory on it but out of the box I had 190mb!? I don't know if something is messed up or what. Imma call the T-Mob store tomorrow and see what's what cus that is some bullshit if that's how it is supposed to be. I know for a fact Inception is on the sd card so it's like wtf, there is no way in hell Samsung/T-Mobile put .81gb of bloatware on this thing. Besides that issue the phone is a champ. I get real good speeds, better than what I was getting on the G2. Video chatting was cool, SOFI don't be surprised if you get chat roulette'd if you know what I'm saying ;). Anyway, once I get some Gingerbread action on here I'm going to be very happy. I'm happy with it now but you know the frustration
