I thought the N7s and 10s and 4s were all having the updates rolled out the day the N5 was released, earlier this week? The 2012 N7 got 4.3 the day the 2013 N7 was released, right?

No, the rollout for those devices is rumored to start next week.

My 2012 N7 got the 4.3 update about 2 weeks after it was officially out. The wait times are becoming longer with each update. I only got 4.2 instantly.

That's a bit upsetting. You still get it first, but CM now has those builds out about 2 weeks after the AOSP info is released. So it's almost the same thing now as the other phones.

Has anyone tried the CyanogenMod Installer app yet?

I'm thinking of installing it on my Mum's Samsung Galaxy S3 (with her consent of course). Just one thing, will installing CM on here reduce the image quality of the camera because of the drivers? Any other things I should know?

On the other hand, they're saying the Moto X has not been selling well, with only 500K units sold.

And I think it was an Android blog, among many other blogs, that reported that many Android user are flocking over to iOS. In great numbers. I didn't really read the article because it makes no difference to me. On my phone, I need Android. I can't handle iOS's crap with no widgets. App selection be damned, I pirate my paid apps anyway. The free apps can suck ass all they want.

iOS is losing grounds on smartphones though so I'm surprised. The 5S isn't selling well compared even to Samsung's flagships. Not to even mention the 5C nobody's ever seen probably.

The Moto X was a commercial failure, yes. The pricing was ridiculous for what it was.

So I bought a Galaxy S4. Rooted it the first day. It fell out of my pocket after about a month and the screen went black. It was insured through my operator. I have received the insurance settlement already, and am now supposed to send the phone to the insurance company. Rooting breaks the warranty. The insurance only counts if your phone is covered by the warranty. I have already spent the money.

What do I do?

Send it back. Worry about it later, if you need to. Most people are shit at their jobs and lazy. They probably won't even check. It isn't their money.

preach. the galaxy s4 has a toolkit you can use to unroot your phone. Even with the screen being black you can do it because it runs through your comp, and if you really need to you can push and pull files through adb or even sideload if you need too, hit up xda yo

Is accidental water damage covered? Might be time to send it for a swim.

I couldn't do Aviate. I didn't give it much of a shot but I tried for 2 days. It wasn't intuitive at all and shit was scattered everywhere. Nova Launcher and some uccw widgets is all i need

The Moto G is insanely well priced. Here in the UK you can get it for £129.95. This is a phone running 4.3 (with 4.4 confirmed in January) with a quad-core chuip and a 720p screen. For comparison, Apple still want over £300 off contract for a 3.5 year old iPhone 4 which has a single-core chip and a low resolution non-HD screen.

I predict the Moto G will be a hit.

Preach, I'm not sure if it's different in your country but over here (and in the US) - the warranty and the insurance are two separate things that don't affect each other. The manufacturer warranty is for faults that develop on their own. Say the speaker blows, or a dead pixel appears on the screen, etc. Essentially, something that isn't your fault.

Phone insurance is optional on top of that and covers accidental damage, theft, loss. A cracked screen counts as accidental damage. I don't understand why your phone insurance requires a valid manufacturers warranty. That's not the case over here.

It's a lower mid-end phone though. The chipset is a A7, which is the lowest end ARM architecture. The camera is very low end and the display isn't likely to be good too. BUT, the Galaxy S4 mini or the HTC One Mini are much more expensive and price-wise the Moto G competes with the likes of the Galaxy Ace 3, and the Moto G is significantly better than that. So yeah, it's probably going to be the best phone in that price unless it turns out very shitty in reality - the Moto X is so overpriced I would be surprised there's everything fine with the Moto G granted there's such a huge pricing gap between them.

nexus 4 4.4 is like a basic ass version, its weird. no google experience launcher, transparent anything, even wallpapers. This can be a good thing though cus hopefully they just put the GEL in the play store like they've been doing with everything else and have android come with a basic ass stock launcher like previous versions
