That still doesn't explain why Google chose to do this now and not before. I feel like precedents are being set here, and they're not very good ones.
While it's hard to argue with the prizes, I didn't think Google would resort to partnering up with another company, a candy company at that, and use that as a means of spreading.
This is some "Android 5.0 is brought to you by Nestle's Kit Kat" kinda shit.
What will come of the "L" iteration of Android?

What's the difference between this and getting a free iTunes download when you go to Starbucks?
It's brand visibility. Brand visibility for Android and the Nexus line of devices, as opposed to brand visibility for a partner company like Samsung.
The Nexus 4 and 7 have been hits, but Nexus still doesn't have the consumer brand awareness of other products like the Galaxy line or any Apple products.
This goes a LONG way to furthering that cause. I mean shit, you have the word NEXUS and the Android logo PROMINENTLY displayed on 50 million fucking candy bars.
That's all good in my book.
I don't give a fuck about Nestle. You do what you gotta do to get ahead.
And hey, I may not eat them but KitKat isn't so bad a brand. Could have been a lot worse, they could have partnered with KFC..... lol. Then I would have to consider a boycott![]()
