11/12 Premier League thread

We were awful really in the second half. Our midfield is far too one paced and weak. When Chelsea started powering forward we struggled to keep up. Rooney scored but missed an absolute sitter. Meh.

Torres was shit.

Although they're top of the league United badly need to replace Scholes. He's still technically brilliant but he looks slower and slower every week and it's hindering the players around him.

^^

I think Scholes is the best midfielder they have. In the first half Carrick and scholes were great. Kept the ball well. Kept it moving quickly. In the second half Carrick reverted back to his form since the Barca CL final. I'd keep him though.

United need 2 new midfielders. Annan would have been a good buy. They need a creative midfielder too.

I'd sell the following:
GIBSON
Carrick
Obertan
Owen

Then the likes of O'shea, Evans, Bebe need to improve drastically.

I think Gibson is growing into a good player. He has a good range of passing.

I'd keep Carrick and Obertan as squad players.

I'd let Owen go so that I could give players like Wellbeck and Josh king more playing time. But.... Owen can finish those half chances in high profile games.

Bebe doesn't look like he is going to make it. His control is awful.

Players such as Wes Brown would be going.

O'shea is at an age where he won't get better IMO but he is still a very good squad player to have.

Evans looks poor whenever i've seen him and i don't think he'll make it at Man Utd.

Bebe i've only seen once or twice but his control is laughable. Conferance and League 2 players look more confortable on the ball than him.

I wonder what drug it was. I guess it was something he ate but if Man City have suspended him it could be recreational drugs.

Liverpool are tracking Vedran Corluka's situation at Tottenham.

Corluka will seemingly fall down the pecking order at White Hart Lane next season after The Times revealed that Harry Redknapp will make Kyle Walker his first choice right-back when he returns from a loan spell at Aston Villa.

Liverpool are known to be in the market for defensive reinforcements when the transfer window reopens in June.

The versatile Corluka would be able to provide cover at full-back or in central defence.

It's on a few rumor sites. Don't think it's going to happen though. Then again, I wouldn't mind the move as long as he gets playing time.

crucial win for west brom today. good to see (for their sake) they can grind out wins like that.

and villa throw it away yet again.... been reading some of the sky sports updates. seems like the defence had a hard time marking cahil today from corners. and bent missed a chance or two. agbonlahor on the bench?? i dont know what goes through houllier's mind sometimes. and he sits there waiting for the game to be over - he doesnt give feedback to his players during the game.

I watched the Villa game. They deserved the win but threw it away. Missed multiple chances. 2 weak goals from corners. Poor marking.

But... Clark adn Luke Young were playing in centre of defence together. With Baker at left back.

Reo Coker had a great game. Delph was poor.

Some Villa fans complained that Delph was playing leftback. Guess he wasn't playing there. I know he's young but he hasn't been very impressive when i've seen him.

Houillier should be fired.

no Delph looks like another Reo Coker.extremely average.

one incident i recall recently, where himself and an opponent were running towards the ball. it was roughly halfway between them and Delph got there slightly before the other guy and he just booted it as hard as he could and it end up going for a throw. now a player with a bit of guile and skill would have taken that ball and held on to it. it was just a really stupid piece of play imo

He's still young. So he has time to develop. He can definitely pass a ball.

Unless Houllier was playing 5 at the back, Delph was definitely in midfield. But he has played left back the last 2 games. If he was playing 5 at the back, then I should quite watching football, as I watched the whole game and didn't notice.

AS for Houllier's Villa. I think they look a lot better under Houllier than they did under Martin O'Neill. More of an attacking force, fitter and attacking with pace. The results don't show this, but I watch a lot of Villa games as my Dad is a fan.

Half time 2-0 down, can't complain. I just don't understand playing Carrick and Scholes at Anfield. Liverpool always play at a higher tempo at home and Carrick and Scholes are our slowest players and Scholes will rarely ever track his man, Giggs has lost a lot of pace also.

It's funny how Carrick has been awful for 18 months but still gets a contract.

Saurez's involvement for the first goal was world class. Brilliant play. Hopefully Nani isn't seriously injured.
