11/12 Premier League thread

^^we've played 3 champions league semi finals under Benitez. All against Chelsea. we won 2 and lost the other after extra time. In the game we lost, the home leg finished 1-1 after Riise inexplicably kicked the ball into his own net at the end of the match. so i dont know what you are talking about lol

Lol, funny how Bobby seems to remember every single result of the last decade.

Sidenote: Hizzle knows jack shit about football.

Here's my point...

In that game against Chelsea, that went to ET, he didn't have the balls to throw in an extra forward until we were down... It's just when Lampard scored from the PK, that he decided to play with 3 forwards. He's always been a coach that took decisions by reacting to what the other coach did... Never have I seen him take control of the situation AGAINST BIG TEAMS, he's scared of that (now if you throw me an example where he put in N'Gog against Hull City in the 75th minute to kill them off, I'm going to travel to your village and slap you in the face). That's what I'm talking about.

Is that enough for you dude? Also, you know me, and you know that I know 'Pool and football, but my hate for Benitez' decisions makes me not want to talk about him, hence I don't always explain what I'm talking about :D

Sidenote: fuck you Sebastian, you think that Ballack is one of the best players on the planet and you think that Bayern will go far in the CL... Enough said about your footy knowledge.

I think we can conclude that Benitez is strategically very good but tactically no so brilliant. He's a builder. Maybe better suited as Technical Director.

While the first part about Ballack is really my point of view (Top20), i cant recall to have said that Munich will go far this year. Actually, they will struggle to get out of the group (i mean they already do) and will lose against any big team by a landslide.

so you are saying that when the score is level against Chelsea at the start of extra time, he should have switched to 3 up front even though they were doing ok up to this point? thats just ridiculous. No manager would do that lol. first of all we didnt have the players to play that formation and then who would you substitute for the extra forwards. Most likely one of the central midfield players which were Alonso and Mascherano. A move like that would give the likes of Lampard and Ballack a free reign in central midfield and they would hurt you if given space and time. A move like that just wouldnt work. Liverpool might get a goal but its likely they'd concede more. Look at las

Liverpool would have won the game if Riise didnt kick the ball into his own net at the end of the first leg. There would have been no extra time.

You don't seem to understand what I'm saying and I'll leave it at that... I'll chat it out with you on Facebook...

I just think that he has no guts that's all... Also, what Duke said.

Also, where did I say that he should take out a Midfielder? I was talking about going all in... take out a defender and throw in a 3rd attacker, fuck it, go for the win, not the draw... No wonder we had 50 draws last year at home...

i did understand what you were saying.

You were talking about the game against chelsea. The one that went to extra time in 2008. The score was 2-2 at full time with an away goal each so it went to extra time. You are criticising Benitez for not going out 3 attackers in the extra time but instead waiting until Chelsea went ahead to do so. Thats what my reponse was to that. another thing i forgot to mention is player fatigue. taking off midfielders or defenders and replacing them with attackers when there is no need to is not gonna help in that respect. If you leave yourself short a defender or a central midfielder against a team like Chelsea, they will do damage. No top manager would do what you are critising Benitez for not doing in that game .

But i agree with your other point, he should have been more positive last season in those games that we drew against the likes of Wigan and West Ham.

No top manager would do that??? Go tell that to Mourinho, Ferguson, Hiddink(especially him) and Felix Magath... They have the guts to kill off opposition.

I have to clarify my point though mate... I used that 2008 match as an example of his negative attitude. It went to ET of course, everyone was tired, etc. I understand... It's just an example of his negative attitude...

so you think the likes of Hiddink or Ferguson would have hauled off a defender or a central midfielder and replaced them with a striker at the start of extra time with the scores level, players getting very tired and the team playing reasonably well? you actually think that?

Did Ferguson do that in the Champions league final of the same year? that game went to extra time as well and penalties. no he didnt and neither would any of the other managers you mentioned.

There was no negative attitude in that game so its a pretty bad example to use. The man brought a decent liverpool team to champions league success in 2005. His tactics were spot on apart from maybe 45 minutes in Istanbul which he rectified by bringing on Hamann to mark Kaka out of the game. He has brought liverpool to 2 finals and 4 semi finals in total in 6 years. Criticising his tactics in the champions league is just ridiculous. His record speaks for itself.

ok i just noticed that you included Felix Magath in your examples of top managers as if to say he is a better manager than Rafa Benitez. That is the most ridiculous shite ive heard all day along with the rest of it.

btw, werent these some good crunch time or ballsey decisions in a big game:

or what about taking initiative and going all out to attack a so called big team:

Just 2 of many highs in the 6 years of Rafa Benitez managing Liverpool FC in the Champions League.

I said LIKE Magath!!! Jesus Christ what is wrong with you... I never said that Magath is a better manager than Benitez!!! WHERE THE FUCK DID I SAY THAT!!!! Stop drinking Guinness and read every word of my post, I never said that he's a better manager than him!!!!!!

Magath is a better manager than Rafa when it comes to killing off teams in the last 15 minutes and building a team out of nothing (Wolfsburg, Stuttgart) or rebuilding it (Bayern) while Rafa can take a great team and put it in order (like what he did with 'Pool after that French bastard left) and overall is a better manager. (Although, fuck you for underestimating Magath, the man is a genius)

Go eat shit, you are annoying, what the fuck is wrong with you this week...

I just said that he has no balls UNLIKE OTHER MANAGERS WHO HAVE THE BALLS TO GO ALL IN WHEN THERE'S 10 MINUTES LEFT!!!!

NOW LET'S LEAVE IT AT THAT!!! You remind me of Sebastian when he argues that Germany are good. tee hee

You said it but you were being sarcastic. I just wanted to point out that Bayern suck hehehe

Tell me to my -cyber- face that with a manager like, say, Capello or Hiddink, we wouldn't be first in the league with the players we have (or had last year since this year's team is not as good as last year's (Alonso))...

I thought by including him amongst Ferguson, Hiddink you were insinuating that he was one of the top managers in the world. my bad.

Magath is a good coach but i wouldnt mention in the same breath as the likes of Ferguson and Hiddink. Winning the league with Wolfsburg was a good achievement but they are a very rich club as were Bayern.

Here is an interesting bit of info. Since i was born in 1985 (ill just use that year to start with), nearly 25 years ago, la liga has been won by either Barcelona and Real Madrid every season apart from 4. Two of those were won by a team managed by guess who? that is some achievement if you ask me.

I was just showing how completely wrong your initial point about that Chelsea game was lol. To suggest that Benitez isnt tactically good or cant make crunch decisions in big gamesis just ridiculous when you look at his record imo.

on the other hand if you argued that he was negative or got his tactics wrong against Wigan away last season or Fulham at home then id totally agree.

do you mean, if we sacked Benitez last year and got one of them or do you mean if we appointed one of them 5 years ago instead of him?

Just last year.

I think that those two titles prove what I think of him.

He's a great manager, but here's also what he said about those two titles... "For us to win, we needed Real Madrid and Barcelona to fluke, that's what happened and that's why we won those two titles"

From Eurosport.

but thats true. That Real Madrid team in 2004 had all the galacticos. Ronaldo, Figo, Zidane etc.By right they should walk it that season. Valencia needed them to fuck up, which they did. Doesnt take away from winning it though.

I think sacking him now could be detrimental to the club's future when you consider these two idiots that are running the club. If Benitez left, i could see them selling Torres or Gerrard just for the cash which they will rob from the club like they did the with Alonso money. I wouldnt trust them to appoint a proper replacement either. They'll just appoint someone that can be their puppet and we can kiss the great champions league nights goodbye. Thats just the way i feel about it.
