Soccer is the most exciting sport

#41
See that doesn't make sense to me. It shows that the "fans" don't respect the players who go out and put on a show for them. They play as hard as they can, blood, sweat, tears and all that, and if they don't win or they make a mistake, you shoot and rob them? Come on, that's not passion that's just plain psychotic. I know not all fans are like this, i don't generalize or lump all fans of a sport into one group like other people in this thread (cough*bachaveli*cough), but it seems a lot of soccer fans just take the game WAY too seriously.

I don't think you know Roberto Baggio. He at that one point was the greatest player in the world, or was seen at 'the one'. For a player like himself to not even touch the net, and because of him lose the World Cup just wasn't right. Pressure or not, or whatever was his excuse for that shot, he should have nailed it. In places like Italy and actually most of Europe, soccer is the main sport, followed as a religion and it will always be that way. Is it normal people rob and stomp each other over it? Can't say it is, but I don't lose sleep over it and I love hearing about it. lol. If a riot broke out in a stadium believe me I'd be throwing elbows all over the place. lol. Many here would probably be the same. The intensity in there is at an all time high like if people were put into a trance.

I'm not expecting you to understand it, like I can't understand why baseball is so popular when I find it to be the laziest and most boring sport ever, right next to golf. lol. It depends on what you grew around and what's within your culture.

Well said. 'Soccer' is that one sport that brings the whole world together in one country every 4 years. How can you fuck with that? People fight over it, show their national pride, many have even died for it. You cannot deny that 'Soccer' is the best sport in the world.
hell yeah!!!!!! *cant wait for world cup 2006 :D*

and kill someone over a sport is just plain dumb.

Besides Bowling, Soccer is the most played sport in the US. Surprising I know.

Please do not compare football to rugby. Yeah football players wear pads, can you imagine the game without them. Hits in football are much much more harder and violent then rugby hits.

You love us don't lie. Without America there wouldn't be 2pac lolol why did I had to play the 2pac card. :(

But still soccer to me and most American is boring, just like how you perceive American football as pussy players wearing protection.
I have no idea why you played the Pac card...funny thing is that I haven't listened to 2pac for the last 3 months

and honestly, I do not mind you not liking football/soccer, it's just that it pisses me off when you people say that it's the dumbest sport on earth while you are the only nation that doesn't like it (+ 30% of Canada)

hell, even the tibetian monks play soccer

It's one thing to not like the sport, but to call it "pussy" is so ridiculous I can't even begin to believe how ridiculous it is lol. And i don' think soccer is a pussy sport, but what makes it tougher than american football? In soccer you're not even allowed to make contact with other players, whereas american football is an extremely physical contact sport
I totally agree...same thing with soccer...don't call it a pussy sport..

by the way, soccer isn't pussiesque neither ...

it's the dirtiest sport on earth with the most cheap shots... during last season in Holland's second league, one dude broke another dude's leg...he may never be able to walk again...
toenails don't even exist on a soccer player because it's stepped on so often when they are about to jump during a corner kick... the ribs are fucked up most of the time... all we wear is a little piece of protection on our shins which is practicly useless

Since when and in what other normal sports do athletes wear daisy dukes and no belts on them? Athletes wearing daisy dukes and no belts while playing? thats unthinkable. and in which sport do you see poeple getting killed by soccer lunatic because they don't understand it is just a game and not there livelyhood? Where do you find all these people. Soccer fans and you want to call them 'fans'? fans my ass

p.s: not all soccerr fans are lunatics if that didn't cross your mind...
the thing is that it's not only about sport...let's take as an exemple the rivalry between Glasgow Rangers and Celtic Glasgow... Rangers' fans are scottish protestents and the Celtic fans are scottish catholics... do you seriously think they are beating eachother up because of the score???

You can also think about SS Lazio and Roma (both of Rome) SS Lazio's fans are all on the extreme right(Facists basicly) while the Roma fans were fightning against Mussolini during WW2... they don't hate eachother because of the results, they hate eachother because of political views..

other exemples

The game between Bosnia and Serbia, Croatia and Serbia, Tottenham(rich club of London) and Arsenal(poor club), Argentina and England(ever since the 1980's..i suppose you know why)

When someone tells you that soccer is more than a sport, it's also the clash of social classes and the continuity of a war that ended 5,10,15,20,30,40,60 years ago (ie France vs England and Germany vs England)

It's sounds crazy? No it sounds retarded. Taking a human beings' life for a game? Yeah that makes sense... 90 year old woman? Where do you get that off?
like i just explained to you, it's not about soccer :), basicly every club in the world(except the japanese, korean and the american leagues) represents a class of the society (Workers, blue collars, white collars, businessmen)
you don't riot for your team, you riot for your political ideas :thumb:

i agree with you, i think it's completely stupid, but what goes into a fanatic's head is the following : "he didnt sweat enough"

by the way, in the football world, there is a difference between a fan and a fanatic... a fan is, say, the 55 year old dude that sits in the retired section...
a fanatic is the dude with the scarf on, the teams hoody, the torch in his hand and the chants coming out of his throat..

these are fanatics

(by the way FlipMo, this was between Dinamo Zagreb and Hajduk Split)

Was this a recent game? Hajduk and Dinamo will always be that way. Especially since Hajduk used to be Tito's favorite club right? Funny how they were always the top team when he was in power. lol.
You're right about political views being a reason for hooliganism, but on a national level it's all about national pride, except for certain countries like ours when it comes to Serbia, and many others who've had grudges.

There is nothing wrong with being a fanatic, if you're going around shooting people with crossbows (lol, like that Celtic fan who wasted a Rangers fan, I think it was) that's gives being a fanatic a bad name, but if you're just going nuts and not harming anyone, there's nothing wrong with it. I'd rather be the fanatic then the old fart that sits down calmly watching the game. lol

Baggio deserved to be robbed. Stupid fuck, pulls a beckham during the finals. lmao.

speaking of Becks, i found my away Man Utd 98-99 shirt (white with blue shoulders) today... I decided to change the Beckham for Cantona :D

Anyways, there's a lot of kinds of fanatics.... theres the hooligans and the fanatics..i'm a fanatic, just like you son ;)

Good change Oggy. lol.

How much did you pay for it? It's almost impossible to find jerseys that old here in Montreal. You have to hit the underground for that. lol.

Ya, it's all good when you're a fanatic, and I don't mind throwing my elbow at a couple of opposing fans when they get too rowdy also, but I'm sure you wouldn't have a problem with that if it was Serbia now would you brate? ;) :D

Shit, I wish I was in the NBA. I wouldn't be here arguing with you about soccer thats for sure. Complaining about shorts? I just stated that they are short. I didn't imply a good feeling nor a bad feeling about them. Take the time to re-read my posts.
If you wasnt complaining than why you brought it up soccer shorts? why did you brought it up?

Btw, i dont know what you wishing to be playing in NBA has to do with out conversation. lol.

Like I stated re-read my posts, you implied the belt analogy with long pants. But since you want an answer here it is. The belt is what keeps the pants up in a athlete's body more specifically in the sport of baseball.
No..
I guess you dont see athletes wearing a belt is kinda 'no place no mans land' thing.

So because America allows all people, including old people, to come to sporting events you want to stop talking to me? What the hell is wrong if some 90 year old woman wants to come see a sports game and cheer on her favorite team? Like I said, what, old people aren't allowed to enjoy sports?
No i meant to say older people be in stadiums chanting for team is kinda weird and just chanting their fav team like 'go this and go that' they basically dont know how to cheer for their team. they too low. lol. where in soccer people rip their throuts out with screaming. its not they not allowed or what not.

See that doesn't make sense to me. It shows that the "fans" don't respect the players who go out and put on a show for them. Sorry but i guess you'll never understand the passion of this game so to speak. you have your own way of understanding your games passion but soccer has its own. soccer has no bounderies so to speak. soccer has no rules to oh you cant do this or that, shit is unlimited. to you this is krazy but to others is not.

But to speak about sport and say this sport is tougher then this is silly i admit. i should'nt be talking like that. i shouldn't have called pussy like i said but yall get the picture instead. lol. this thread was made and said soccer is the most exciting sport. i shouldnt have said anything and instead let others who disagree prove it wrong. but instead it led to this sport is much tougher then this.

And Illuminati, you are a troublemaker. you start this thread and leave and you know people will bring some heated arguments and you just left. lol. its like throwing a little fire in a gas and leaving the scene, when knowing its gonna blow up. you left me alone in a battle against all these non soccer heads.

Dude (I can't believe I actually said dude) read your post. Please take the time to actually disect what you said.
Your ass was wearing short shorts just now early 90's in NBA so what you complaining now about shorts being short in soccer? of right. its soccer.
It's states there that I played in the NBA so I played along with it..Hold on take your time re-read it over again. I hope you won't rebuttal this.
No..

What?

Big ups to FlipMo and how hizzle? for giving me more of a knowledge of the boring game named soccer. :thumb: Bachaveli Don good try.

I find basketball to be more exciting than soccer(football), in terms of watching the sport, and playing it. But, that is me.

With that said...

Handball > American football and baseball
Waterpolo > American football and baseball
Volleyball > American football and baseball
