Just a question, why do you hate the Royal Family? After all the public only pay an equivilant of 60p per year toward the upkeep of the Royals, with a President or other head of state the cost would surely be more. IMO the Royals do a good job, one black sheep can't be allowed to discredit the flock, can it?
I know this is a severely late reply, & for that I apologize. I was trying to remember something that was said when I came across your post.
Anyway, I stated a bunch of reasons as to why I hate the monarchy.
Money is a major factor.
Another is I have a venomous distaste for what they represent (imperialism, colonisation, inequality etc.)
My religious beliefs also mean I am disgusted that these people are in power because those before them murdered & somehow believed to rule over me & my family was their 'divine right'.
Classism. Pride. The fact that I have never pledged allegiance to that crown and yet by law, I am bound to it.
Also, being Scottish, I don't like the fact that there is discrimination against the other countries of Britain. (Take note that the national God Save The Queen has a verse, which granted they no longer use, which refers to crushing rebellious Scots.)
That's like still employing the use of burning crosses but trying to say 'oh, we ain't KKK, we ain't racist'.
What about the fact that a Catholic can never sit on the throne of this country? And I don't mean it's unlikely, I mean that will NEVER happen unless there is a revolution. Same goes for Muslims, & anyone else who isn't a white Protestant. (Take note that a lot of people believe that Diana was murdered partially because she was going to marry an Arab, Dodi Al Fayed)
BTW, we have a Prime Minister who we also pay for, just like a President so the monarchy are an extra cost.
Anyway, if you seriously want to know more of my reasons, just ask. I will post up an essay or some shit. Just remember, you reap what you sow.
