Half the time when the Royal Family does something its blown out of proportion by the media (Especially British Media) and made out like a big deal. Half the world doesnt care bout half the shit they do.
And when I think of Harry wearing a swastika I dont think Britain I think the Royal Family. I think it was a stupid idea to wear it but he is only ONE person not the entire population.
And Steve is alright, if not a little over excited at times. lol

Tell you one thing for sure, the British public cares about all the shit they do since it's us who bear the burden of funding their lifestyles.

And when you think Royal Family, that'd be the Royal Family of where?

Thought so.

Just a question, why do you hate the Royal Family? After all the public only pay an equivilant of 60p per year toward the upkeep of the Royals, with a President or other head of state the cost would surely be more. IMO the Royals do a good job, one black sheep can't be allowed to discredit the flock, can it?

Ok but this is what I mean, I dont think The Royal Family is representing the British people, so if they do something stupid its their stupidity not yours.
Obviously you feel different which is fair enuff, but thats my opinion.

I know this is a severely late reply, & for that I apologize. I was trying to remember something that was said when I came across your post.

Anyway, I stated a bunch of reasons as to why I hate the monarchy.
Money is a major factor.
Another is I have a venomous distaste for what they represent (imperialism, colonisation, inequality etc.)

My religious beliefs also mean I am disgusted that these people are in power because those before them murdered & somehow believed to rule over me & my family was their 'divine right'.

Classism. Pride. The fact that I have never pledged allegiance to that crown and yet by law, I am bound to it.

Also, being Scottish, I don't like the fact that there is discrimination against the other countries of Britain. (Take note that the national God Save The Queen has a verse, which granted they no longer use, which refers to crushing rebellious Scots.)
That's like still employing the use of burning crosses but trying to say 'oh, we ain't KKK, we ain't racist'.

What about the fact that a Catholic can never sit on the throne of this country? And I don't mean it's unlikely, I mean that will NEVER happen unless there is a revolution. Same goes for Muslims, & anyone else who isn't a white Protestant. (Take note that a lot of people believe that Diana was murdered partially because she was going to marry an Arab, Dodi Al Fayed)

BTW, we have a Prime Minister who we also pay for, just like a President so the monarchy are an extra cost.

Anyway, if you seriously want to know more of my reasons, just ask. I will post up an essay or some shit. Just remember, you reap what you sow.

Good post, the way the catholics were and still are bieng treated was/is a disgrace, I know friends who have lost family because of what has happened in the past. Also I dont think the royal family hold the same respect and significance among the people as they once used too.

^ Well I don't think Marshall was dressing up as Bin Laden to mock 9/11 or anything like that. He dressed up as Bin Laden to have D12 kick his ass while he was celebrating.

I can see why people would find it offensive. I don't think it's the same as Harry though.

Well really we dont know if Harry was acting in a way that made fun of Hitler either so we cant really make judgement on that. All we know is that he dressed in the same uniform - He could have just as easily been poking fun.

I really don't see the harm in Prince Harry wearing a swastika to a fancy dress party. It's not like he was strolling down the streets of London...he was at a fancy dress party! And it's also not like he did the full Hitler suit, complete with hat and moustache...it was one little swastika. I also think that it was unfair for Harry to be ostracised for it...he's a grown man, and I personally think it was quite an inventive costume! All the more power to Harry, who's not afraid to do what he wants, despite the prudish and old-fashioned family he is a part of.

artisticgurl & SeX KiTTeN, do me a favour & read every last post here before making such ignorant comments. And if you still feel the same after reading these posts, read up on the Biritsh monarchy's history & Nazi history then you may not feel that Harry was justified in what he did.

I have read in-depth about the atrocities that occurred during WW2 and I am not about to deny just how horrific it was. All I'm saying is that one little swastika does not deserve to make front-page news all over the world!

Long before the swastika was adopted as Hitler's Nazi "logo" it had very different religious meanings... see this link here . Why was everybody so quick to assume that Harry's swastika had anything to do with Hitler or the Nazi's for that matter? Because that is what's controversial. THAT is what sells magazines, not religious symbology!

Please don't call me ignorant just because I refuse to buy into the propoganda the tabloids set up to make Prince Harry look like an evil person.

Please do me a favor and read all my posts in this thread (I've read just about every page) and still I have my own opinion. Which you would/should know if you bothered to read them. Sit down junior you can have your opinion.
