I've noticed that there's nothing about Soul or neo-soul in these forums.

Does anyone have links to any good neo-soul songs? Im starting to like this genre even more as i listen to some songs.

i particularly like:

erykah badu (got all her albums).
chrisette michele - i am, epiphany
marsha ambrosius
mary j blige

and to further my liking, ive noticed that on BET there's a show called "Morning Cup" which plays some good songs.

Can people please post some links up...

Thank you.

That Anthony Hamilton video is real nice.
thanks, thats on BET occassionally. if it wasnt for them i wouldnt have known about that song.

that roots one (rising up) is amazing, with chrisette on the chorus! oh man!
one reason i havent put this on my iPod is because i will listen to it way too much and get bored witht the song eventually.

props for posting J*Davey.
did you know about them before? ive just figured out who they are, they were on j dilla's "jay love japan" album.

if i hadnt waited long enough to see the name of the song at the start of the music vid, i may have never discovered "slooow" - nice production on the beat, love it.

now tiffany villarreal isnt really soul, id say shes more R&Bish - but close enough. i really admire her work. great voice and loved her first album. she needs to drop more albums and id also like to mention the features on the stat quo mixtapes - keep them coming. :)

j*davey is not neo soul and neither is "rising up." the closest the roots came to sounding like neo soul was on things fall apart.

it's a mostly garbage genre outside of the soulquarians and this post doesn't even belong on this board.

I actually agree with roaches here. The neo-soul genre had promise early on, but failed to deliver consistently. There's not a great deal of creativity there.

And Sandeep, yes I have been listening to them for a while. As roaches said though - it's not neo-soul.

i know, but i thought id post it in here to combine it all into one thread. chrisette michele's music has elements of neo-soul/r&b music; so for example, i put the roots song with her feature in here because of chrisette, not because of the roots.

John Legend and Anthony Hamilton are the only two in the genre I listen to really. John Legends first album Get Lifted still gets regular plays from me, classic in my book.
