The Future Of Shady/Aftermath

A few years back, lets say 2 to 3 years ago things were looking promising for Aftermath Entertainment and Shady Records.

Artists on each label included:

Aftermath:
Dr. Dre
50 Cent
Busta Rhymes
The Game
Stat Quo
Bishop Lamont
G.A.G.E.
Joell Ortiz
Eve
Raekwon
Tiffany Villarreal
Marsha Ambrosius
Dion

Shady Records:
Eminem
D12
Ca$his
Bobby Creekwater
Obie Trice

Who is left now?

Aftermath:
Dr. Dre
50 Cent
Bishop Lamont
Marsha Ambrosius

Shady Records:
Eminem
D12
Ca$his
Bobby Creekwater

Who could leave or is inactive?

Aftermath:

Dr. Dre - About to retire as an artist and focus fully on producing.

50 Cent - On the brink of retiring from music, who knows if he'll continue making albums? Looking to persue a film career.

Marsha Ambrosius - She hasnt made a release on the label yet, she has an upcoming album. but i can see it being pushed back. Eventually she may leave and release the album on another label.

Shady Records:

Eminem - I can see Eminem coming to the end of his career and this may well be his last album, or maybe penultimate. He's also been very inactive lately - for obvious reasons.

D12 - Have also been very inactive, theyve been persuing solo careers, Proof unfortunately died (RIP), Bizarre is concentrating on solo projects, Swift and Kuniva too, and Kon Artis (Mr. Porter) has been producing alot lately. when is their group album due?

Ca$his - Loose Cannon has been pushed back several times now. Yes, Ca$his has been releasing a lot of mixtapes lately, but those arent on the label, they are independent and for free download.

Bobby Creekwater - His debut album on Shady Records is scheduled for release, but will this album, like other be constantly delayed? Will he stay for long? Or will he be released like many other artists as we know have done so?

What future do these two labels have? Talented artists such as Joell Ortiz, G.A.G.E., Obie Trice, Stat Quo, Busta Rhymes and Raekwon have left - which I believe is a huge loss.

On Aftermath, with Dr. Dre about to retire, Marsha quite inactive and 50 Cent about to focus on Hollywood, Bishop Lamont is left hanging around - the only active artist on the label.

On Shady Records, Eminem and D12 being very inactive, it leaves the quite inactive Bobby Creek and promising rapper Ca$his to release their efforts.

Will new artists be signed? Things need to be shaken up.

i don't really care for label politics. dre will always have work regardless of if he got a label or not. you gotta remember, eminem and 50 both have upcoming albums. i don't think they're worried.

yea, true. but what im saying is, its not really going to compete with other labels if they dont have a lineup of artists releasing albums and other work. they wont be as profitable and they wont have the recognition they need.

dre cant do anything with aftermath and he wont have anyone to work with in the studio most days in the week. so we wont really see any artists being nutured and being at the top of their game, reaching their potential. all we will get is other aritsts just having their songs produced by dre.

same for eminem, he'll just produce and feature.

The days of big Death Row / Bad Boy type labels are gone though.

Name one label other than Def Jam that has a full roster of good artists?

Most labels are run by artists, have one main act, and then his homies and second tier rappers.

Exactly, there is no focus on labels any more, and it has really fucked the game up in my opinion. Quality in the music has been put out in the last couple of years has been terrible, and I feel thats because no one has a family to support them. so people get lazy, and work at their own pace when they want to. The end result is sloppyness. To be honest, I havent been paying attention to the scene because there is no passion any more, there nothing to make me want to go buy some ones album.

i think you are all right.

but i dont think thats the way it should be, there should be artists and groups from different labels competing against each other, maybe even collaborating. at the moment all we're seeing is lil wayne, t-pain, ne-yo, chris brown, rihanna and flo-rida type people. they do collaborate with each other but they are just solo artists and arent from the same label supporting each other. theres a difference - and its more effective when artists from the same label (family, like PG said) support each other and follow up with releases.

the rap game needs some healthy competition and the state shady/aftermath is in right now does not provide any of that.

right now, they are sleeping giants.

The days of being on a record that means some shit is gone, especially Shady. People got tired of waiting on the next hot shit to drop. That's why most of these artists mean shit to us now-a-days, including Dre and Em. You take too long, you piss us off, we will find the next best thing.

Tis why niggas like Stat Quo is moving on to bigger and bett...nah, i can't lie this dude is going to be broke as fuck, still. He has moved on from Shady, there is no fruit from the labour. I really can't agree with anything these labels do, considering they fail to keep a name for themselves.
