I wasn't really digging 'Love Lockdown', 'Heartless', or 'Coldest Winter', but I dig this joint. The production is wicked.

I like the auto-tune thing when it's done right. Hell, I've done it myself on some tracks I'm working on and it came out wicked.

Unfortunately, Kanye doesn't have the right vocal tone for it in my opinion.

Not to mention, if you can actually sing a little it helps, don't make the autotune do all the work - that isn't what it was designed for. and Kanye really cannot sing at all, so the autotune is even more OTT than it usually is.

lol. Exactly. I love him but he can't fucking sing. He has such a big ego he actually thinks he can and I'm sure all the ass kissers around him are so bias to him they agree with him. I guess I won't be a fan of this album although I will give it a listen.

^^ Same here, I was so looking forward to seeing him (he's going to Belgium in November)..
but if I'm up for 2 hours of vocoder..

He better bring more songs of his first two albums :(

Terrible.

This album will seriously flop. That joint will not connect with the average CD consumer. Most of his fans are teenage girls who dont even know what Robocop is.

So far I can say the same thing about all the songs that have leaked. The production is repetitive and bland. The lyrics are uninspired, cliché and simple. The flow is terrible. The vocoder effect is annoying. And with all that combined the finished products sound weird, lame, and goofy.

I hate to bring this into this discussion but I just have to at this point. If 50 and Kanye went head to head again (are they?) and I had to buy something I would without a moment of hesitation get 50's new album. That "Get Up" single is on point and a lot better than these Kanye leaks, a LOT better.

^The 50 cent single and the kanye leaks shouldn't be compared. They cater to different feelings, are different ways of expression, and have different purposes.

End-all purpose = make money. But, Kanye has other aims too. 50 cent does not.

Of course they can be compared, considering their previous album's shared rivalry was completely over album sales.

You cant fall back now and say "oh you cant compare marketability or sales" blah blah blah. They went there themselves.

Everything in life can be compared if you want to go that route. All I'm saying is, if you compare the recent leaks to 50 cent's Get Up, you're not doing Kanye West justice.

Also, you said it's going to flop. I disagree. If it doesn't do well, I'd blame the economic woes and consumer cutbacks, not the quality of the cd. Kanye has solidifed a customer base and he can expect his fans to buy his album religiously. Also, the more he "experiments", the more non-traditional rap fans will buy his albums. Do you have any idea how many tight pants-wearing, Feist-listening music fans got into Kanye because of his track Homecoming alone? A bunch.

Not to forget, 808s and Heartbreak will be a concept album and will feature strictly tribal drums and the use of auto tune. He's not here to trick people; he's been clear about what you can expect from the album. Also, he's said that he's making "pop music" with this album; meaning not rap.

It's like Lil Wayne saying that he's going to do an R&B album. It doesn't mean he's done rapping, but he's just diversifying for a moment.

You cant fall back now and say "oh you cant compare marketability or sales" blah blah blah. They went there themselves.
It wasn't even a friendly feud; it was a friendly agreement between two friends to con fans into buying their music. A friendly agreement and a banal marketing ploy don't give way to comparison.

Also, this is real talk: "I don’t give a fuck if it’s hot or not, it’s from the heart… Would you judge a grandmother’s love? Give it two-and-a-half mics out of five?”

That quote is bullshit. And is exactly why I dont like Kanye.

The album is being given mics based on whether it is hot or not. Him saying "I dont give a fuck if its hot or not" doesnt excuse him from reviews or critics. Im sure as hell that if everyone comes out and says "Oh Kanye it is so dope!" and he wins a Grammy for it he wont turn around and say "I refuse to accept this award because I dont give a fuck if it's hot or not, its from the heart! So I dont want you giving me 5 mics or awards!"

Of course he wont do that.

The grandma comparison is retarded anyway.

What if a grandma, who loves her grandchild, physically abuses them, out of love? Should you judge her then? Of course, you're not going to say "oh I cant judge her love."

That is just total bullshit. If it is out of love give it away for free, dont sell it, or at least if you're going to knock criticism then dont accept praise, awards or sales plaques.

As for everything else you said, pop album, rap album, rnb album, it doesnt excuse the fact the songs just sound baaaad.

If you dont want me to compare Kanye to 50 who can I compare him to? This sounds worse than the recent Eminem leaks. This sounds worse than the recent Jay Z leaks. What am I allowed to compare to? I picked 50 Cent because they started the comparison, and this will go down as round 2 considering they are releasing around the same time.

This album is already getting mad backlash just cus it is different then what people are used to and it shouldn't. If you think the music is bad that is your personal opinion but I'm tired of seeing the he's singing too much he's using auto tune too much the beats are all the same jargon.....no shit? That is the point, he has come out and said that and you're mad at him for doing it? Come on. Call it bad if you want to the repetition is damn annoying.

So does that mean I can come out and say Im going to drive to your place and slit your throat and nobody can be mad at me for doing it? Because I openly said I would?

Stating something is different doesnt mean we cant comment on how bad it is.

The point is, whether or not he wants to be different or whatever, the songs just do not work, they are not good.
