Law enforcement officials have found the body of missing Memphis basketball star Lorenzen Wright in a wooded area at Hacks Cross and Winchester in southeast Memphis.

A law enforcement source confirmed the body was that of Wright, who has been missing since July 19, though the Memphis Police Department won't officially comment. Police are referring to their investigation as a "death investigation."

The body was found by someone who called police today.

Next.At the Collierville home of Wright’s ex-wife, Sherra Robinson Wright, white bed sheets covered the windows. A man pulled aside the sheets to answer the doorbell and raised his finger to ask for a moment. Then at 4:15 p.m., sounds of wails and crying rose from inside the house. The man did not return to the door.

Family members, friends and some former University of Memphis basketball players, including Penny Hardaway and Elliot Perry, were gathering near the wooded area near Hacks Cross and Winchester.

Police sources confirmed earlier that they are investigating a 911 hangup call from Wright's cellphone made July 19.

Wright was thought to be carrying some amount of cash when he was last seen leaving his ex-wife’s Collierville home, fueling concerns he may be the victim of foul play, according to a Collierville police report released today.

He recently flew from Atlanta to Memphis to visit friends and his six children, friends said. He was scheduled to drive back to the Atlanta area July 19, with his six children and a friend. He was last seen at about 2 a.m. July 19, leaving his ex-wife’s Whisperwood Drive home. His former wife told police she doesn’t know who he left with or what type of car they were in, according to the missing person’s report.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Wright played 13 years in the NBA, including five with the Memphis Grizzlies, after playing two seasons at the University of Memphis.

i like this pick up. dude can score.

The Knicks have extended an offer to Shannon Brown and are waiting to hear whether the Lakers' free-agent guard will take it or wait for L.A. to make room to re-sign him by trading Sasha Vujacic, two people with knowledge of the situation told CBSSports.com Thursday.
surprised he still hasnt been picked up.

The Heat have reached an agreement with 32-year-old guard Eddie House(notes) on a two-year contract for $2.8 million, his agent, Mark Bartelstein, told Yahoo! Sports on Thursday. The second year of the deal is a player option for $1.4 million.

LOL @ Skip. That was funny.

So is it between Shannon Brown and Sasha in LA? One or the other.. hmm thats a tough one Sasha is a pretty good defender and reliable from the line but Shannon is fun to watch :( I want them both to stay.

Von Wafer used to play for the NBDL team they used to have here. I've played with him a bunch of times at various pick up games and practice squad scrims, dude is mad talented. That's a good pick up for the Celts, he's a little undersized but he'll fit in well

ha ha..nice find Yak.. that was a funny moment between those two. every now and then they'll talk about it on TNT and Barkley always laughs about it. Him and Shaq are friends. Kenny always gives him shit about how slim Charles was back in the day.

The Barkely/Shaq fight: always funny how players pile on claiming to stop the fight :) Charles had the reflexes though, the way he ducked that punch Floyd Mayweather would be proud. Anyone remember another time when Shaq threw a punch that just missed a player? Everyone went to stop Shaq from tearing the guy apart. If that had landed, it would have been something.

In conclusion, Shaq bringing down the rim will always be a classic NBA moment.

This is old but, a nice read When Magic and Jordan locked horns at the 92 Olympics.
