before anyone posts it, if you see a "poster" for the third one with an altered newspaper and a question mark with the title "The Dark Knight Returns", don't post it. it's fake.
If you'd take the Riddler as he is in the comic books/cartoons he'd be ridiculous (see: Batman Forever) but the Riddler is really just a highly intelligent, obsessive and calculative madman who likes to play games... very easily put on the big screen and definitely has a lot of potential.
i could see him playing him, but he won't--nor do i WANT him to (no disrespect, i love spacey)--because he's already playing lex luthor in the superman franchise.
nothing but a rumor. how can they get any actors to sign up when they don't even have a script yet? they probably haven't even decided on the final plot or which villains will appear. don't believe anything you hear about this movie for at least another year.

Usually, scripts are written with certain actors in mind. So when the actor is approached, it appeals to them more. It is only a rumour of course but i wouldnt be completely suprised if Depp was there main target. Although a script isnt written im sure the story boards are in progress because the creativity is still fresh. Again, this is very usual too with most blockbusters.
