After recently having acquired Death Row Records, Global Music Group (GMG), who could release a new Tupac album later this year, have now signed multi-platinum R&B recording artist Mark Morrison.

Global Music Group issued a statement Tuesday (August 5) on their website welcoming the R&B singer and emphasizing their win on the purchase of the notorious record label for $24 mil.

Death Row Records was purchased by Anthony Marotta, CEO of Global Music Group on June 25, 2008. GMG triumphed against the likings of Warner Music Group, Evergreen Copyrights, and Koch Entertainment in the bidding-battle for the record label.

In April of 2006, Marion “Suge” Knight filed for bankruptcy. A court order was ruled against Knight, in which Lydia Harris, co-founder of Tha Row, was awarded $107 mil.

Mark Morrison’s fourth-coming comeback album, Innocent Man will be available in stores throughout U.S. and Canada in the fall, followed by the release of King of British R&B: The Best Of… Mark Morrison, which is slated for release early 2009, along with his European tour.

A release date for the album has yet to be announced.
