As you probably know, I do these now and then like roaches does. So here we go..

*I'm now fully convinced that Cormega is just as dope a rapper as Nas and Az. Cormega isn't new to me by any means, but one of my boys got me listening to him a LOT more than I used to. I knew he was dope, but he's doper than I thought and he has a lot of good music. Nas has made a much bigger impact on the game than Mega and Az, but as rappers, thet are more equal than a lot of people think imo. Long story short, Mega is a vey, very dope rapper.

* I am late in saying this, but that Game song "Pain" is dope. I remember reading a thread someone on another website made and they compared it to Biggies "Juicy" and said it's the type of song that won't get old. I have always liked Game.. even though he dissed 50 too many times. He's dropped 2 DOPE albums and I think his third will be good as well. A lot of people hate on dude, but I thin he keeps it realer than a lot of these other bullshit rappers. He shows emotion. So what?

* The new Nas album is nice imo, but I can understand why some people think he may have fell off a little. Nas is Nas and to me he's still dope, but I want to hear Nasty Nas a LOT more than I want to hear the Nas who makes songs like "fried chicken" and "n.i.g.g.e.r.". To me, Hip Hop Is Dead was a nice album. Know what I mean?

* Busta Rhymes. He's been around a long time going all the way back to Leaders Of The New School. He's dropped a good number of solo albums. He's been pretty consistent i'd say. Why do you think people dont't put him higher on lists or their own personal top 10, etc?

* I haven't talked about them in a while on here, but are there any other big Little Brother fans on this board? My boy put me on to them way back arouns when their first album dropped and i've been a huge fan since. They have so much dope music and they are great live. I have seen them 3 or 4 times. On a sad note, I read somewhere that Phonte and Pooh may never make an album together again. I like their solo shit (Phonte and Nicolays "Connected" album is amazing), but that was a blow to hear that they might not drop another group album.

* Raekwon's OB4CL 2 is taking too damn long to drop. What the fuck Rae!

* I can not fucking wait for another Pharoahe Monch album. Desire was ridiculous and his live performance at Rock The Bells was my favorite performance ever. And i've seen a lot of people. Most multiple times. Dude might be THE best ever lyrically. He's just bananas. Better than Pun, Black Thought, Big Daddy Kane, G Rap, Big L, Rakim, Canibus, Nas, Em, Hov and the rest of them. And who is fucking with his flow anyway? You heard his verse on that one Immortal Technique song? I forget the name, but I think I posted it within the last month.

* Rock The Bells 2008 is gonna be incredible! I finally get to see A Tribe Called Quest! And De La Soul and Pharcyde as well! This will be my third time seeing Nas, but seeing him is always a pleasure. I get to see Rakim again also. Rae and Ghost i've seen probably 8 or 9 times, but again, a pleasure every time. The lineup is sick and I can't fucking wait!

Cormega is absolutely fucking dope and always has been.

I've been listening to him before he ever had an album out. I remember when he signed to Def Jam in like '97 and recorded 'The Testament', then it never dropped except for tracks leaking like "One Love', the reply letter to Nas, and 'Dead Man Walking'.

I remember a few years later when he finally got to release his debut, 'The Realness' which to me is a hip-hop classic. I was the owner of the largest Cormega group on AudioGalaxy when that was one of the most popular ways of getting music. I remember someone in the group mailing me a recording of Cormega live in New York that he had recorded himself of 'Mega dissing Nas for the first time after Nas had dropped 'Destroy & Rebuild'............I remember having a notepad list of all the rare Cormega tracks that were circulating, including a live performance from Mobb Deep's boat party, not to mention a dope ass freestyle session where 'Mega ripped the shit out of about 6 or 7 classic Notorious BIG instrumentals, without stopping. I think I still have that somewhere.

I was disappointed with Mega's second album, 'The True Meaning'....but I was happy as hell a few years ago when 'The Testament' finally got released.

Dude is the definition of slept-on. He's a poet through and through and I can't count the amount of lines he's got that have seriously impressed me.

Word man. Dude is a beast for sure. I'd like to hear that shit over the Biggie beats if you can find it. And you don't like The True Meaning? Whatttt. How could a Cormega fan not like that? That album is so dope. Like I said, he has so much GOOD material.

LB fell off. All the Justus League mixtapes coming out are whack. Chaundon ended up being wack, unfortunately.

LB didn't fall off. Get outta here with that shit. If you WANT to compare, yeah, their first two albums were better than their third. But their third was also good, so why would I complain? They still put out good music man. Chaundon is whatever. I like dude, but.. yeah.

personally i like Mega and AZ better than Nas

Busta Rhymes. Why do you think people dont't put him higher on lists or their own personal top 10, etc?
beats me.. busta bust has always been doing dope shit. Everything from his flow, to his energy and delivery are unbelievable. I think one of the reasons he aint on ppls top 10s is cuz he doesnt usually make shit real personal that come out and really hit u that'll give u something to relate to. But who knows, busta rhymes is ill.

Raekwon's OB4CL 2 is taking too damn long to drop. What the fuck Rae!
Im really not toooo excited, since i'm always disappointed when a rapper says shit like "oh this is for the real heads that fell in love with my old shit. Ima bring that rawness back". Who knows he might be able to, or maybe he'll just make a dope album, but if i really get caught up in comparing it to OB4CL I probably wont feel it as much...

But am I the only one dieing to hear another GZA album before any other wu memeber?

I can not fucking wait for another Pharoahe Monch album.
haha I was just looking for info on that the other day, unfortunately i couldnt find any news on when that may be.. I just hope he wont make us wait as long as he did for desire. Oh and the IT track ur talking about is the apocalypse remix

Rock The Bells 2008 is gonna be incredible!
I havent bought tickets for that yet cuz I was afraid alot of the acts wont show up like last time in Toronto. And we already know we're missing Rae n Ghost, Dead Prez, and Immortal Tehcnique

.. peace!

I think Busta showed a shitload of promise during L.O.N.S. which he didn't deliver on on any of his solo albums. Not to say he didn't release good albums, his first two are great and the thid is good... the albums afterwards are just about select songs to me. But ultimately he was just one of those artists that remained "relevant" and always had something worth listening to (his remixes for example) but the early signs of genius never really amounted to anything. I feel the same way about Talib. I respect his work but listening to "Scenario" and the remix I'm left asking "what happened?".

I'll try and find it for you. I know I have it somewhere.

It's not that I don't like 'The True Meaning', don't get it twisted. I just thought it was nowhere near as good as 'The Realness'. It has some dope shit on it for sure though.

linx, I'm a HUGE Little Brother fan, but I kind of have to agree with SOFI on this one. It's not your normal falling off that most rappers face, but I think it can be considered that.

Most rappers when they "fall off" lose their creativity, their drive, and/or subject matter (see: Eminem). LB, on the other hand, has lost their direction. If you listen to their third album, Phonte is just as or almost as good lyrically as he was before, and Pooh is actually even better. But their music has no direction, no coherence, no purpose. It's a bunch of songs with energetic beats that have no feeling on their own or together as a whole.

There's a skit on Get Back where Phonte talks about someone saying this album sounds different, and he replies with "That's the point." Well, to me, they tried to fix something that wasn't broken--most likely in an attempt to get more mainstream appeal and sell more records--and they broke it.

I'm most definitely a Little Brother fan, and not just a 9th Wonder fan, but I think 9th was the backbone of the LB product. Combine that with their apparent need to have mainstream appeal, and I think LB ship is off course and may never get back on. I wish I could say differently.

I disagree with this. To mention Pain in the same paragraph with Juicy is blasphemous.
