Carey: "I'm An Icon For Outcasts"

Mariah Carey is glad she suffered hardships in her youth - because her turbulent childhood has made her an icon for social outcasts.

The "Heartbreaker" diva claims her mixed-race heritage meant she wasn’t accepted by her peers as white or black - but hopes her meteoric rise to fame will allow bi-racial fans to see their own potential.

She tells U.S. magazine Parade, "I felt very much like an outcast when I was younger. No matter where I went, there was always this sense of not really falling into place or into one category.

"I moved around a lot when I was growing up, so nobody knew me and I was never one thing or the other. Being biracial, I didn’t really have somebody to look at and say, ‘Okay, this person is exactly the same as me, and they’re out there’."

The singing sensation claims she will never grow up - so as to never forget the struggles she went through to become successful.

"A lot of kids have said that to me, ‘Until you put your first record out, I didn’t feel like there was anybody that was the same as me.’ People who don’t feel like they fit in can identify with me. I promised myself when I was a little girl that I would never forget what it felt like to be a kid. I never wanted to grow up and be out of touch with what that feels like."

with all due respects, one of the most practiced rules in the world of professionalism is that the customer is always right. don't interpret it literally, it doesn't actually mean that the customer is right, it just means that it is your job as a service provider to create the illusion for the customer that he is right, in order to secure that the customer doesn't dislike you and swear to never come back there every again.

a lot of people complain about the news. for so long, you've told them to shove it up their ass. people continue to complain. here's an idea. change your news sources a little bit, try reporting a little more hiphop news and a little less pop news and see how it goes. you're still not doing anything that would be out of place for a website by the name of "streethop", you are not trying to be hitemup, and you are still serving the people who make this place what it is what they want. or what they think they want. like i said, people are stupid, but your job as a service provider is to bite your lip and let people think you're the stupid one. not because you are, but because of the mental effect of you doing that has on the other person, and how that person feels treated well and wants to come back. when you tell everyone who complains about the news to fuck off, you are telling them that they can't get what they want here so they have to move along to get it. With me and SOFI it's cool cause we're active members of the forums, but most other people aren't.

I'm gonna start posting news I think. I've been wanting to for a long time. Don't take this personally, but from a hiphop point of view, what's happening to this site is deadly. We need more hiphop shit or we lose the little credibility we have left forever.
