Kanye West hit out at Grammy Award organizers when music was played during his acceptance speech for the Best Rap Album prize.

The rapper asked for a backing track to be cut twice, as he took a swipe at beaten nominees Common and Nas and dedicated the award to his mother, who died last November (07).

He said, "It feels good to be home. A lot of people said hip-hop is dead, but that was just Nas. And Common, you can’t drop an album the same year as me."

As his voice was drowned out, he pleaded, "Come on - you gonna play music on me?" He added of his mother’s death, "I appreciate all the support and all the prayers."

And pleaded again, "It would be good taste to stop the music there," before continuing, "I appreciate everything and I know you are really proud of me right now and I know you wouldn’t want me to stop and you’d want me to be the number one artist in the world. And Mamma, all I’m gonna do is keep making you proud. We won this."

Earlier at the event West choked up while singing "Mama", a track he wrote about his mother.

What hits are you talking about?? Almost EVERYTHING big that Nas has done was sampled/interpolated.

to tell u the truth i don't even know much about this kanye/nas situation...but the website that i sourced is a PR site...news is submitted by other websites to that PR website (which i sourced)...and im pretty sure the news is reviewed by that PR site before being posted...so whatever the case..i don't blame them..and i wouldn't think of them as being any less credible..

they may be a credible site but that's a pretty HUGE error to make.. it's not a few words out of place, they completely made it look as though there is beef, which there isn't.

Thats typical of the media though isn't it? Pretty funny though considering Nas was there so he woulda heard what Kanye said. Also making the comment on Common, thats probably just his sense of humour and Common would know that.
