Bond has been set for recently arrested rapper Lil' Wayne in the amount of $10,185 following a court appearance yesterday morning (January 23rd, 2008).

As SOHH previously reported, Wayne was arrested in Yuma County, Arizona on January 22nd, 2008 after a vehicle search uncovered 105 grams of marijuana, 29 grams of cocaine and an unspecified amount of ecstasy.

Weezy was taken to jail on three felony counts: possession of dangerous drugs, possession of narcotics and possession of drug paraphernalia, and as of 2:30 p.m. EST yesterday (January 23rd) is still in custody.

He appeared in court at 10 am. MST via video feed from the Yuma County Detention Center.

A court clerk at the Yuma County Justice Court who asked to remain anonymous told SOHH that the rapper is scheduled to appear back in court on January 25th at 10 a.m. MST for a reading of a complaint, due to the fact that he has been booked on pending felony charges.

According to TMZ, police also found a firearm on Weezy's person during his arrest. Along with a .40 caliber pistol, which Wayne reportedly has a permit to carry in the state of Florida, they also found $22,000 in cash. Authorities are currently investigating if his permit to carry a concealed weapon carries over to Arizona.

That sucks for Lil Wayne. Oh well, too bad.

But I find it interesting that he was issued a gun permit in Florida... I guess he's not the boss he claims to be, since I doubt states issue gun permits to people who are actually connected to the streets, much less a regular Joe Shmoe.

Yes, when you apply for a gun permit, they log onto sohh.com and ask for your street rep.
No, but they do brief background checks on you. Law enforcement agencies document known gang members, drug dealers, etc... and with Weezy rapping about being "Blooded" and having some "Snow White," if his background was clear and a permit was issued, then obviously it's a complete and total lie, otherwise he wouldn't have gotten a permit, especially since there aren't really threats out on his life. [For example, the City of L.A. only granted a gun permit to Edward James Olmos because there were threats from the Mexican Mafia, who had supposedly already killed two people associated with his film American Me. If he had applied under normal circumstances... i.e., no threats on his life... he wouldn't have gotten approval.] Anyone can apply, but not everyone gets one. They don't just issue permits to anyone, especially if they are an actual threat to the community. There are even Probation Officers who don't get permits.
2pac had a gun permit for L.A but cant take it to vegas thts y he couldent retaliate when he got shot in vegas and he had huge connections
No he didn't. They don't issue permits to guys out on bail, hence why he had off-duty police officers serving as bodyguards licensed to carry firearms... and even they weren't legitimately able to bring firearms to Vegas that weekend.

Not every gang member/drug dealer has a record. Anyway, it's not just about that, it's about you doing this whole "what he raps about has to be real". Rick Ross doesn't "traffic the white stuff". Hurricane Chris doesn't "Get it by the pound".

^ And they're all posers too. Not saying your hip-hop identity has to be 100% accurate (as Pac's whole "started out as a drug dealer" thing referred to a two week-long failed effort at selling crack), but obviously there has to be an ounce of truth.

I'm not trying to hate on Lil Wayne, I still think he can drop some good lyrics as a rapper (I've been listening to "I'm Me" and "Kush" a lot), but come on. I'm not advocating illegal activity or anything like that, but if you're going to jump on NUMEROUS records and interviews and talk about "Scarface, bitch, cocaine by the pie" and "Soo-Woo" (when, before Mack 10 was with them, he was always rocking the blue bandannas anyway), then it'd better be for real, otherwise you're just a chump trying to look tough. It gets a little silly.

I think Wayne has come a LONG way since when he first was in the public's eye, and I think he would still be a good rapper without all this fake shit he's kicking. I don't mean to always refer to it, but the first verse of I'm Me, for example, has almost no references to any of that, and it's still pretty dope. Blooded, on the other hand, is a retarded song.
