I just listened to The Leak mixtape that roaches provided in the other thread (http://sharebee.com/790d772d) and seriously, anybody that doesnt think Lil Wayne is the most innovative hip-hop musician out right now, and one of the dopest, needs to cut their ears out.

Really.

With the amount of drugs he does I am not surprised to hear the things that come out of his mouth. I wouldn't say innovative though but artistic and descriptive. If his music was a picture it would be one depicting a normal brain and one of a psychotropic drug user with the caption "this is your brain literally on drugs".

Ps. I was listening to the leak when I saw this thread on my touch.

Lil Wayne is not a musician.

If you would have said most innovative hip-hop artist, you might have a case there, although it's all opinion really.

The most innovative hip-hop musician
is probably ?uestlove.

Lil Wayne is a musician. A musician makes music. Lil Wayne makes music.

A musician is a person who plays or composes music Musicians can be classified by their role in creating or performing music: * A singer (or vocalist) uses his or her voice as an instrument.* An instrumentalist plays a musical instrument.

I dont know any other rapper that uses his voice as an instrument as much as Lil Wayne.

Don't give me that dictionary definition bullshit Ruk.

By that account, Vanilla Ice, Paris Hilton and Ashlee Simpson are musicians.

Maybe I'm being elitist, but to me (speaking as someone who's official government and tax records do state "professional musician"), I feel that "artist" should be the blanket term, with "musician" used less frequently.

I don't really know where I'm going with this. I just know that if I was Lil Wayne, I sure as fuck would feel stupid calling myself a musician if I was talking to, say Quincy Jones, or Stevie Wonder.

Im in the same boat as you Mili, but I think anyone who makes music is a musician, on the other hand, those that treat it as an art form and pour their hearts into it are artists.

Lil Wayne falls into both categories anyway.

I'm downloading it now and going to take time out from my Janet-fest that I've been on today (Design Of A Decade....oohhhweeeee!!!) and check it all out, despite the fact that I heard 2 tracks before from this and didn't like either of them.

ya since Rukas so highly regarded this I was thinking about it too. want some truth? i have never listened to a lil wayne track. i've heard him and i've heard his songs but i've never consciously and willingly sat down to listen to a wayne track front to back. i don't like what i've heard so far much either.

^^ Awesome tracks roachy. Fresh's Blessing is nice.

Whats your fav on The Leak you posted? I love Dying and Something You Forgot (Militant will love the sample if he ever gives it a chance LOL). The other songs are beasts too. I'm Me is just raw.
