LMFAO!!!^^^ i know..

and preach... i dunno if you have vista but vista does have a program that lets you actually make the copy of the backup cd.. actually, HP has made it in such a way that you can only do it from the HDD, there is no cd key given... i heard most computers do it this way...
actually, yeah, you are right. i found out today. when you install vista on hp computers, a format partition is made, but you can also make a recovery cd from the control panel. my mistake.

Booting the utility thing didn't work.

I tried F8 and it took me to Windows Advanced Options Menu. But I didn't recovery sensole there neither.

This were the options there

safe mode
safe mode with networking
safe mode with command prompt
enable boot logging
enable vga mode
last known good configur
directing services restore mode
debugging mode
desable automatic restart on systerm feilure
start windows normally
reboot

Preach or anybody else.... can you please continue guiding me where we left of as i'm still confused and trying to format my drive.

yeah the thing is i dont want to make the cd since i might lose it.. i know i will... and you can only make this backup one time only

You format off the Windows XP CD. Command prompt only worked for Windows Me and older. You boot from cd and follow the instructions. Hit me on AIM if you need all the info. kristiancp1

you think HP would actually mail me the hard copy of vista for free?

Yea but if i'll format it off the CD, then wouldn't that delete C: drive AND D: drive also? I have files in D: drive and I don't want to delete that drive. Unless there is some way to avoid deleting D: drive.

No, you just delete the C: partition where the Operating system is and reinstall. You don't have to touch D:
