What if Biggie lived and Puff got killed?

I dont wish death on any person so dont take it like that, this is purely a hypothetical situation.

In 97, if Biggie had survived the shooting and it was Puff Daddy that died, how do you think it would have impacted Hip-Hop?

I think when all is said and done it's actually Diddy who had the bigger impact on the industry.

Im sure Biggie would have dropped another solid album, although I think he would have run out of steam shortly after, I dont believe he would have taken a leadership role like Diddy has. I dont think he would have been a successful business man.

So how would Hip-Hop be today if Diddy was never around? No shiny suits with Mase. No Sean John. No Making The Band. Probably no Shyne, etc etc. I actually think Sean John helped pave the way for the "grown and sexy" look in mainstream Hip-Hop.

To be honest I dont think it would have made a huge impact, but it is worth a "what if" discussion.

Ehhh...

Puffy is the reason Biggie even shine. Without Puffy, there is no Bad Boy Records. Puffy brought new artists and directed the production to a high level.

^^i dont agree. Biggie was well known before Puffy started Bad Boy. Im sure he would have got signed. Biggie was amonst the best because he had talent. Puffy didnt give him that. How many Bad Boy artists flopped?

Puff sold Hip Hop to the world. He's one of the reasons why it went mainstream and why it stayed there for so long.

He sucks as an artist, but he's one of the best businessmen in the world.

so yeah Biggie wouldn't done anything without Puffy really...

Without Big, Puffy was shit to rap, so he turned around and made hip hop popular.

If Big hadn't died i'd say that Puff wouldn't have become so big. The song that really put Puff up on top was "I'll Be Missing You" so theres some food for thought.

Well Biggie had major talent. He would have had no trouble getting a deal. Listen to him freestyling at the age of 17. Amazing.

Puffy did not make Biggie Smalls into what he was. Fair enough he helped but how many of Puffy's artists flopped?

Making hip hop world wide and mainstream was good for puffy's wallet, but not so much for the genre itself. Also if Puffy would've never signed Big chances are Big would've stayed w/ Pac and Thug Life which would have made rap play out in a completly different direction which is another thread in itself.
