wrecka lecka mecca mic check on the windmill skills
Mac distracts, wearing Godfather hats
it's okay to parlay to fortee better
tell 'em my nigga made a sweater tougher than leather
swing another Rodney King thing in our right
but just like the white one I get no respect
money stay awake, 'cause them other niggas are fake

http://www.zshare.net/audio/3653529b8eb8ef/
Album: Stunts, Blunts & Hip Hop (1992)

"The hip-hop legacy will always last
To know your future is to know your past
Thanks Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash
Afrika Bam, whose jams were a blast
Colc Crush Four, nobody could pass
Grand Wizard Theodore, whose hands were fast
Fantastic 5, who left with the cash
Busy Bee, who crushed up the hash
The Treacherous Three, no one surpassed
Jeckyll and Hyde, whose life was fast
The Fearless Four, they made a splash
Force MC's, made the party last
The Jazzy 5, yeah they had a smash
The Funky 4, at a neighborhood bash
Yo back then it wasn't done for the cash
I hope the legacy continues to last, yo I'm out

11. Mobb Deep - Shook Ones Part II
http://www.zshare.net/audio/36536464bc0bf0/
Album: The Infamous (1995)

"I got you stuck off the realness, we be the infamous
you heard of us
official Queensbridge murderers
the Mobb comes equipped with warfare, beware
of my crime family who got nuff shots to share
for all of those who wanna profile and pose
rock you in your face, stab your brain wit' your nosebone
you all alone in these streets, cousin
every man for theirself in this land we be gunnin'
and keep them shook crews runnin'
like they supposed to
they come around but they never come close to
I can see it inside your face
you're in the wrong place
cowards like you just get they're whole body laced up
with bullet holes and such
speak the wrong words man and you will get touched
you can put your whole army against my team and
I guarantee you it'll be your very last time breathin'
your simple words just don't move me
you're minor, we're major
you all up in the game and don't deserve to be a player
don't make me have to call your name out
your crew is featherweight
my gunshots'll make you levitate
I'm only nineteen but my mind is old
and when the things get for real my warm heart turns cold
another nigga deceased, another story gets told
it ain't nothin' really
hey, yo dun spark the Phillie
so I can get my mind off these yellowbacked niggas
why they still alive I don't know, go figure
meanwhile back in Queens the realness is foundation
if I die I couldn't choose a better location
when the slugs penetrate you feel a burning sensation
getting closer to God in a tight situation
now, take these words home and think it through
or the next rhyme I write might be about you"

12. O.C. - Time's Up
http://www.zshare.net/audio/36537709336b2d/
Album: Word... Life (1994)

"You lack the minerals and vitamins, irons and the niacin
Fuck who that I offend, rappers sit back I'm bout to begin
bout foul talk you sqwak, never even walked the walk
More less destined to get tested, never been arrested
My album will manifest many things that I saw did or heard about
or told first hand, never word of mouth
What's in the future for the fusion in the changer?
Rappers are in danger, who will use wits to be a remainder
When the missile is aimed, to blow you out of the frame
Some will keep their limbs and, some will be maimed
The same suckers with the gab about, killer instincts
but turned bitch and knowin damn well they lack
In this division the conniseur, crackin your head with a 4 by 4
Realize sucka, I be the comin like Noah
Always sendin you down, perpetratin facadin what you consider
a image, to me this is, just a scrimmage
I'm feel I'm stone, not cause I bop or wear my cap cocked
The more emotion I put into it, the harder I rock
Those who pose lyrical but really ain't true I feel"

13. Souls Of Mischief - 93 Til' Infinity
http://www.zshare.net/audio/3653842a0f2546/
Album: 93 Til' Infinity (1993)

"Dial the seven digits
Call up Bridget
Her man's a midget
Plus she got friends, yo, I can dig it
Here's a fourty, swig it
Ya know it's frigid
I got em chillin in the cooler
Break out the ruler

Damn
That's the fattest stoke I've ever seen
But what does ?keen and Cali? gettin weeded
Makes her feel like Maui
Now we
Feel the good vibrations
So many females, so much inspiration

I get inspired by the blunts, too
I'll front you
If you hang with a punk crew
I roam the strip for bones to pick
When I find one, I'm done
Take her home and quickly do this
I need not explain this
A-Plus is famous
So get the anus"

14. Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth - They Reminisce Over You
http://www.zshare.net/audio/3653887921ab73/
Album: Mecca And The Soul Brother (1992)

"I reminisce for a spell, or shall I say think back
22 years ago to keep it on track
The birth of a child on the 8th of October
A toast but my granddaddy came sober
Countin all the fingers and the toes
Now I suppose, you hope the little black boy grows, huh
18 years younger than my mama
But I really got beatings cause the girl loved drama
In single parenthood there I stood
By the time she was 21, had another one
This one's a girl, let's name her Pam
Same father as the first but you don't give a damn
Irresponsible, plain not thinking
Papa said chill but the brother keep winking
Still he won't down you or tear out your hide
On your side while the baby maker slide
But mama got wise to the game
The youngest of five kids, hon here it is
After 10 years without no spouse
Momma's gettin married in the house
Listen, positive over negative for the women and master
Mother Queen's risin a chapter
Deja vu, tell you what I'm gonna do
When they reminisce over you, my God"

Saying "Dear Mama", and to a further extent, "Me Against The World", aren't milestones for hiphop...

Well, they opened the pop culture to more reflected hiphop. You know i'm no Pac groupie anymore although i still consider myself a dedicated fan, but you on the other hand have shown a lot of hatred for the Pac groupies over the years, so i don't think you should exclude 2Pac from this for the sake of a principle or something either :p

Dope thread. If it's not too much of an effort, instead of lyrics, I'd rather hear you say a few things about the songs. What makes them special to you, why every hiphop fan should have heard that particular song, just something like an impression or experience or thought you associate with the tracks you upload. That way I can download the track, read what you said, and then by the time i'm done the download should be done also, and i can listen and type a response while I'm listening. Right now I scroll through a bunch of posts with a bunch of links, and excluding the songs i already have, I'm like "okay, where should I begin?"

Other than that, like I said, nice thread :)

(....)
I think most of those songs weren't too important, they got a lot radioplay or were played in tv etc. but there are maybe few from that list that were really important for hip-hop.
Most are just plain good or popular hip-hop songs but didn't change anything particular.

Bobby Sands.. thanks for the suggestions. Some of will be on this list actually. I'm sure you already knew that though, lol. :thumb:

Rizzle: I'm pretty sure you know just as well as I do that there WILL be atleast 1 or 2 Pac songs on this list, lol. All I meant was i'm not gonna load the list with Pac just because there's a bunch of Pac fans on here, ya know? Didn't mean anything disrespectful by it. :thumb:

Let me also say that not all the songs in this list will really be "important". Some will be and some won't. It'll just be a list of really good songs I think a Hip Hop fan should hear. I have a list in my head basically. There will obviously be alot of good songs that won't be on the list. Can't fit them all. Although I will probably do a Part 2.

Actually, nearly all those songs are classics. You list the ones that aren't.

I reckon linx will upload most of the songs on that list.

I meant to list a lot more but got lazy. linx will probably upload most of them anyway.

16. Organized Konfusion - Stray Bullet
http://www.zshare.net/audio/36670071edf191/
Album: Stress: The Extinction Agenda (1994)

"Let the trigger finger put the pressure to the mechanism
Which gives a response, for the automatic *bang*
Clip to release projectiles in single
File forcing me to ignite then travel
Through the barrel, headed for the light
At the end of a tunnel, with no specific target in sight
Slow the flow like h2o water
Visualize, the scene of a homicide, a slaughter
No remorse for the course I take when you pull it
The result's a stray bullet
Niggaz who knew hit the ground runnin and stay down
Except for the kids who played on the playground
Cause for some little girl she'll never see
More than six years of life, trif-le-ing
When she fell from the seesaw
But umm wait, my course isn't over
Fled out of the other side of her head towards
A red, range, rover, then I ricochet
Fast past a brother's ass, oh damn, what that nigga say
Aww fuck it, next target's margaret's face *bang*
And I struck it
Now it's a flood of blood in circumfrence to her face
And an abundance of brains all over the street
Shame how we had to meet *bang*
Dashin, buckin, greet by fuckin family
They follow behind me in a orderly fashion
Bashin through flesh I'm wild
Crashin through the doors of projects hallways
To deflect off of the tile
I'm coming for you little girl
Once inside I shatter your world
Swirl, no more dreams no hopes when I spray
You better pray, to the pope or the vatican
Before I go rat-tat-a-tat again
I'm mad again brother somebody's mother will be sad again
But, whose blue skies will turn grey
From the attack, of the mac-11, I'm a stray, bullet"

17. Cuban Link - Letter To Pun
http://www.zshare.net/audio/366710592ee287/
Album: Chain Reaction (2005)

"Before I take a shot, I always make a toast to the sky
Blow somesmoke in the air so we both can get high
At night I hold my rosarys tight and hope to get by
Close my eyes and ask the lord why he chose you to die
Though, I believe in God, I chose my own road cause of pride
I dont abide to no bible cause most of them lie
Lifes like a roller coaster ride, just try to hold on and drive
Its all about surviving, one day we all gonna die
I tried to hide all these feelings I was holding inside
Cause they always told me thugs aint suppose to cry
And show their emotional side
But, it soaked up my eyes
Cause I never had nobody really close to me die
Couldnt understand it at first, so how do this work
You were just here full of cheer, now I'm following your hearse
Its outta this earth, I felt like I was damn with a curse
Had to light candle in church to handle the hurt
In retrospect, I always respect the man that you were
A man of your word that always put his family first
With talent superb all you wanted was to be heard
And You got your chance all of your fans are proud of your work
You made it outta of the dirt and got on top of the world
But you still stood in the hood with your son and to little girls
You in iced out chains, your wife was rockin the pearls
You lived a ghetto fabulous life, the Bronx was your borough
And when the fame came you never changed. You kept it so thorough
We did the same thing, poppin champagne to we earled
You shocked the world, twin, every time you rapped on a track
You had cats like How this fat dude could flow like that?
Is he black? Is he packin the mack in the back of the acc?
The only Spanish rapper to snatch up a platinum plaque
Thats a fact. Its been written in stones, from here to Rome
When it comes to spittin them poems. You sit on the throne"
