Film & TV What was the most pleasantly surprising movie you have seen?

just as a counterpoint to the other thread, here's the flip side. what were some movies you were expecting to suck, or just weren't expecting much from, that turned out to be good? one movie in recent memory that comes to mind is Rocky Balboa. i mean Rocky 6? the dude's almost 60, come on now. so this movie should have sucked in theory, but it turned out to be quite good, a hell of a lot better than i was expecting.

also i wasn't expecting a lot out of Knocked Up, since most comedies nowadays are just dumb crap trying to be funny and usually failing. but it turned out to be ridiculously funny, because it had that real feel to it.

Well one movie that i really didn't expect much from was Crash. I went to one of those old 1 dollar movie theatres and Crash was the only movie i hadn't watched to i said fuck it. Afterwards i was pleasantly surprised at how good the movie was. Another movie was Transformers, i swear i really thought it was gonna suck especially with Michael Bay directing it but god damn that movie ended up being one of the tightest movies i've seen in theatres in a long time!

I would say transformers too. I wouldnt say it was the director per say that put me off, it was the shitty cast...Tyrese, and that dude from "Win A Date With Tad Hamilton"(dont tell me how i remember that movie) , it seemed like a sure way to fuck up what looked a great movie. Yet it lived up to the hype it had.

Didn't Crash get banned from Cinematic release?

The Motorcycle Diaries.

Looking at the cover it looked a no-name b-film to me. it is the most pleasant movie experience i have ever had i think. that movie represents all things that are good to me.

Enduring Love

i wasn't sure what to expect from this film. i thought it might be a chick flick from the title. the only reason i even wanted to see it was because Daniel Craig was in it and i wanted to see if he was a decent actor after i heard he was going to be the new bond. turned out to be a good movie.

just read the imdb description, that movie actually sounds pretty cool. i'm probably gonna watch it.
