Go for something that you think not many people here may have heard. I don't want to see any recommendations for "Nevermind", "Are You Experienced?", or "Songs In The Key of Life" in here lol.

I would recommend everyone to listen to this album:

Funkadelic's "Free Your Mind....And Your Ass Will Follow".

George Clinton and co's 1971 opus, supposedly cut in a day "to see if we could cut a whole album while tripping on acid" according to George.

Eddie Hazel's guitar work and Bernie Worrell's keyboards on these joints will blow your mind. Some seriously dirty psychedelic funk that will have you making some serious funk face. Try listening to it after a couple of spliffs also for some serious aural pleasure.

i don't know if this would apply, seeing as it is related to hip-hop, but one album i would strongly recommend is The Herbaliser - Very Mercenary. i like a lot of the Ninja Tune label artists, but Herbaliser is their best, and this album is their best work imo.

That's so weird that you posted that. Just yesterday, my friend was playing me "Hey Eugene" and asking me if I had heard of them. I knew I had but I didn't know where from...and then I remembered that you had a made a thread about them on here before.

Your girl would probably know about them. They're from Portland, Oregon. I'm not sure how many members are in the group still, but they are extremely musically talented and bring different flavors of music and combine it. I can't llisten to them often, though but sometimes I get in the mood when Pink Martini sounds perfect to me haha.

Ya for real I will check out that album. Yeah if they are from Portland chances are she will have heard of them. The funny thing is that my friend who was telling me about them the other day has never even been to the U.S. But I think he did mention that they were from Portland...hence them making the song "Hey Eugene" I guess....my cousin lives in Eugene and I have been there to stay with him loads of times so that's probably why my friend brought it up in the conversation.
