sucked. better than that Load (and Reload) of crap they came out with in the mid-late 90's, but it still sucked. the movie about the making of the album is better than the actual album lol. but my opinion is that everything they did after the Black album sucked, so my opinion may be biased. now if you want to talk about the 80's Metallica, i'm your man :thumb:what did you think of St. Anger?
He basically hit the nail on the head, pretty much everything after the black album is trash. The Black album is alright but imo its not even close to Metallica's best(Puppets). St. Anger was horrible, i'm embarassed to own it.sucked. better than that Load (and Reload) of crap they came out with in the mid-late 90's, but it still sucked. the movie about the making of the album is better than the actual album lol. but my opinion is that everything they did after the Black album sucked, so my opinion may be biased. now if you want to talk about the 80's Metallica, i'm your man :thumb:

I wouldn't say its because Saint Anger is terrible, no. It is ok music I guess. It's just NOT Metallica. Metallica is Ride the Lightning, And Justice for All, Master of Puppets. Metallica is NOT Load, St. Anger, Reload, The black album, etc. Dunno if this makes sense or not.Why I ask? I've always liked Metallica but never "actively" owned their music (downloads (hehe), albums bought etc). Recently I borrowed by buddy's St. Anger cd and I think it's a very solid album. So I did the proper thing and bought it along with And Justice For All, figuring I'd give my old man a listen (he liked it).
Now, even a blind golfball with 8 different debilitating diseases can spot the obvious difference between old Metallica and this, more or less self proclaimed, new Metallica.
So I'm wondering if the reason for a large part of Metallica's "original" fanbase to not like St. Anger has more to do with the fact that it's so different than the Metallica they know and love, and less with the idea that it's bad music. Because it may not be Metallica, St. Anger is a solid album. It's definitely not bad music.
If you think so I will come to your house and gangrape every 3rd person there (overcounts mean you get extra).
But really, do you not really like SA for it's differences or do you honestly think it's sucky music?
(I should've included a poll in this)

only a tad more? seriously? Justice is one of the most technically sound, amazing Metal albums ever made, and you think it's just "a tad" better than St. Anger? that's blasphemy to a Metallica fan!! :fury: :fury: :fury:Nah, that's exactly what I meant. It's kinda like why I don't like Pacs posthumous releases.
has to be said, after listening Justice for all for a good week, I like it a tad more than St. Anger. But its very different. Frayed Ends of Sanity, Dyers Eve, awesome songs.

the only negative thing about the Justice album is that they used so many time changes and riffs that they could have made like 5 more albums out of all of it. but instead they tried to cram every guitar riff known to man on one album, and somehow they managed to not only do it, but do it very well. masterpiece is the right word for that album. i just wish it had been produced better, the guitar and drums are way too loud, and almost no bass at all.I said i *liked* it a tad better, not that it only was a tad better. I agree that it's technically a masterpiece, song wise.
