has anybody seen it yet?

i went an seen this today. great movie. some creepy shit that happened in that hotel, Stephen King is a genius.

one thing im puzzled at. was Samuel Jackson character suppose to be the hotel manager or the devil? theres the one scene where Cusack opens the fridge door in his room an starts yelling at him. (Or was he a bit of both)?

this movie was better than Evan Almighty. i know 2 different type of movies.

your thoughts?

I saw it last night also...

SPOILER..

Samuel L Jackson wasn't the devil or anything, what the room does is makes you hallucinate and plays with your mind, makes you live your darkest moments over and over again. Like Samuel L Jackson said.. "It's a fucking evil room". That's why you see Cusack attacking a fridge, but nothing was there... (I kinda laughed at that scene lol)

Pretty much what happens at the end is, while everything in the room is an illusion, the lighter and bottle of booze that Cusack had was brought in from the outside, hence when he says, "I may not be reality, but this fire sure is." The room was in danger, and thats why he let Cusack out of the room.

That's why you see Samuel at the end saying: "Well done..."
Cusack's character found a way to beat the room. The room doesn't kill you, living your memories over and over again makes you kill yourself.

I dunno about you, but when Cusack had to relive his daughter dying all over again... Man, I felt horrible lol... Good acting on his behalf.

Very good movie. Anyone else see it? John Cusack put in a good performance. That was one fucked up hotel room. It was crazy at the end when the wife hears what's on the tape recorder. very very fucked up.

No it wasn't long.

Devious - I haven't read the book but I might just do that. How long is it? I know it's a "short story" by just how short?

I have it as a e-book if you want to read it!! Very good movie i think...I'ts Crazy how they come up with 2 hr movies from king's short stories!!!
check out Trucks in his Night Shift collection. it's only 11 pages long, but they turned that into Maximum Overdrive. Same with Children Of The Corn, barely 20 pages and they turned it into a 2 hr movie lol.

meh didnt think it was that great to be honest. Maybe my expectations were high because of how people over-hyped the flick. I dont mean to seem over analytical but Cusack's performance seemed exaggerated at times. It seems like he was over acting his character imo.

so i saw this movie over the weekend. it was pretty good, but to answer the question asked earlier, no, it isn't really all that close to the story at all. it's quite different, but it was still well done. i give it 3.5 out of 5

So I posted about this movie on the 17th July, after seeing it on the 11th July in Portland.

Then, last week on the 31st July, I copped a perfect quality bootleg DVD of it from the Chinese bootleggers that sell DVDs at my local pub.

But what's funny is... yesterday, on the tube in London - I saw a big poster advertising the movie. And, I shit you not, at the bottom of the poster it said in big letters "IN CINEMAS 31ST AUGUST".

LMAO. I thought the days of long delays were gone, obviously not. It's just bizarre that I can see a movie at the cinema in one country, get a bootleg dvd of it in my own country a couple weeks later...and it's still not coming here for another month?

ROFL.
