^Alright but then i guess you would have to know seether to be able to see the comparison. I have not heard any of their songs other than remedy. This is why i dont think he sounds like Kurt at all. But if they do lots of nirvana cover songs and he switched his style up to sound more like Kurt then yea you are right its not cool. But he did such a horrible job that nobody has anythign to worry about.
This was the first Seether song I heard and I picked it out immediately, that's a Seattle/Washington accent he is singing with, even though dude is from South Africa. I didn't know that at the time so I gave him the benefit of the doubt. If he had never heard Nirvana, dude would not sound anything like he does, no way in hell.
Also, I read a few reviews in magazines where they said he at times borders the line between inspiration and imitation, this was after I had heard the song so I knew what they meant.
It's not every word, but certain words, he has listened to the way Kurt intonated those words and imitated the way he pronounced the syllables, listen again and pay attention the words I've highlighted:
Throw your dollar bills and leave your thrills all here with me
And speak, but don't pretend I won't defend you anymore you see
It aches in every bone, I'll die alone, but not for you
My eyes don't need to see that ugly thing, I know it's me you fear
when he says not for
you, the you on the third line is the most obvious.
