Film & TV Spielberg and Jackson Bring Tintin To The Big Screen

Variety reports that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson have teamed to produce a trilogy of Tintin feature films, with each director helming at least one of the features.

The films will be motion-captured 3D (like The Polar Express), because, according to Spielberg, "We want Tintin's adventures to have the reality of a live-action film, and yet Peter and I felt that shooting them in a traditional live-action format would simply not honor the distinctive look of the characters and world that Herge created."

Tintin will follow three adventures of an adventurous young journalist who follows stories and solves mysteries, with the help of his white dog and some other colorful characters.

Spielberg's been trying to get the rights to Tintin for over 25 years; it's great to see that he'll be able to follow up his recent, dark films like War of the Worlds and Munich with some good, old-fashioned children's entertainment. Variety says little about Jackson's enthusiasm for the project, but it's hard to imagine he'd attach to such a hugely ambitious project if he didn't have a love for the source material.

thats some good shit !

i remember watching tintin. it rocked but i remember the series as very gray and dark, not very colorful, which imo translates to a boring memory. i remember watching it but it doesn't give me the feeling of good times.

yeah what i mean is i remember enjoying it back then, but when i think back on certain things like donald duck movies they i just vision donald in a colorful environment with stupid 1st grade humor that's still a little funny. when i think back on tintin i vision tintin on a wine red train on a huge bridge with gray mountains in the background or in some old castle or something. the general mood of the tintin show as i remember it is sort of gray and dark, which means i don't really get a good feeling when i think back on watching tintin as i do with power rangers and disney cartoons, but i do remember enjoying the show during the latter part of my childhood. tintin really is a lot more sophisticated animated series than say mickey mouse.

i often post while at work, im often VERY stressed at work, and I often post while at home, i'm often high at home. unfortunately, there's always something affecting me so i'm confused a lot :p

Preach... TinTin is more of a cartoon that's serious... It's not Mickey Mouse or Asterix like... its market is not kids, it's more of Older teens and Adults...

I loved reading the comic books. 'The shooting star' cracked me up the most. Thank goodness it will be motion captured 3d!!
