Film & TV Lost Season 4 Discussion

Yeah, I'm feeling a little disappointed. Don't know why, 'cause it was action packed and I hadn't really predicted the twist at the end. It had popped into my mind, but the references to Jack's dad confused me.

Surprised at the lack of Smoke Monster in the finale (unless you count ghost-Walt).

I dont like Lost no more lol. If what people are speculating is true and they get off and it moves to their lives off island in any way shape or form it is going to suck.

Flash forwards show who survives, that takes the guessing out. I now know Kate and Jack will survive no matter WHAT happens, and for a show so ready to kill of characters thats a bad move. I used to watch thinking fuck, even Jack could get it, but now I know that will never happen.

Furthermore, if they get off and dont explain the smoke monster, the 4 toe statue, the island purpose, jacob, etc, etc its going to be such a fucking cop out, and I fear thats what they are doing. They filled the show with all this unexplainable stuff and for that reason they just wont explain it, because they cant.

Wack.

I think season 4 will just go straight back to on-island stuff. Bear in mind that Jack's flashforward was 2 years after the on-island stuff in that episode. There's no guarantee that the people Jack contacted on the freighter are the ones that rescued them, so they could still be on the island for a long time.

I never really believed they'd kill off Jack or Kate anyway, since they're kind of the spine of the show. If they start doing flashforwards for everyone else then it would be a shame because it would rule out any unexpected deaths, but I don't think that will happen.

For me Lost is a cool series about people lost on an Island with a bunch of weird shit going on.

They are starting to lose the appeal by over complicating it. The Others were a cool concept, now they are a joke in my opinion. They were bad as now they just suck. And this season totally disregarded the weird stuff going on. In my opinion the series began to suck with they killed off Echo, it just took away most of the mystery after he died.

Jacob isnt really a mystery, its just the way they present it, the edge is just gone in my opinion. I hope S4 gets things back on track.

I want them to get rid of Ben, he annoys me, as good an actor as he is, its ruining the show. Its like Jack Sparrow, Depp is fun to watch in that role, but it just gets tired very quick. Ben went from cool to a joke, he's a total bitch now, at least before we thought he knew what was going on but now it seems he is as lost as the others.

Kill Ben, get rid of the lame others, think of a new mysterious enemy, go back to explaining smokey, what the 4 toe statue was, the second island, walt, and all the other things they forgot about totally.

I think Alpert will take over as the leader of the Others, and he's already pretty mysterious. I was waiting for Ben to die in this episode, but it never happened. I think Locke might do him in, in the next series.

i don't agree with any of you lol. i am excited about finding out who ben is really fighting. i agree that a lot of the mystery is gone though, and that the others suck more now than before. i'm annoyed by a few things. i thought the others had super fighting skills, ben certainly kicked sawyers ass although through a cage and with a stick, but he could at least have tried to resist jack when he attacked him, couldn't he? and why did he show up alone? i love the ben character but i guess that's just me :p

next season won't switch to present time with flash-backs to island time. it will still be all about what happens on the island, with flashbacks and some flash forwards.

remember that there are lots of ways for them to tweak it. charlie asked desmond in the finale if he had any flashes prior to dying, and desmond hadn't. i think that was sort of a mini-cliffhanger, what happens to desmonds visions now that charlie is dead. if they continue and he can still see the future, maybe one day he learns how to control himself more and how to change things and prevent everything. there are several turns they may take. maybe the flashbacks start a new plotline where they try to find a way to get back on the island, and then in the series finale, you see how they got rescued in island-time, and how they found their way back to the island in flash-forward time, with maybe some mind-boggling or super-deep flashbacks in between, like a double or triple super episode. i'm gonna give this a shot before i get let down.

as far as ben's stature with the others is concerned, in the past few episodes i think they have made it appear is if though ben is slipping and losing his people, and maybe he is a little bit, but the producers also angled it so that it seemed like alpert was fed up with ben and tried to double cross him, but in the finale i actually got the sense that he was more worried about ben than anything. i don't think ben's done at all. and since jack learned that ben didn't really kill jin, sayid and bernard, but that jack and his people killed ten others, i don't see why they need to keep him. the whole reason why jack took him was because he killed his friends.

alright so i stopped watching the season at ep. 16. All i want to know how the rest of the season is, without spoilers of course. Also, how was the season finale. Was it dope?

Opinions please?

17 and 18 was okay, 19 and 20 were freaking awesome by my account, 21 to me was a great episode but i'm sure there are people who disagree, and i personally thought the finale was pretty good, but not great. but it's still lost, which makes it awesome by regular standards. :D

SPOILERS ----------------------------------------------
(WILL CLEAR UP WHAT KATIE SAID)

MAYBE. apparently, according to that industry insider kristin, one of "the show's three most important characters" won't be a regular next year. i think maybe this is what katie has heard on the radio.

this doesn't mean much though. in between "the man from tallahasse" and "the brig", locke wasn't exactly a regular per defition, so i think it just means a character will become temporarily preoccupied with something during the first part of, or through the course of the next season. like michael and walt are now kinda.

i so don't have a clue where they are going.

that's actually quite possible.

someone did a transcript of ben's journal. it's sooort of spoilery i guess, but also sort of interesting.

---------SPOILER--------

_/12 An important meeting tonight with (R) and (M) regarding the developing situation. We are now on day 3 of our exodus from the village and I am, I fear, at the limit of my tactical resources. (T)’s agenda, which I don’t question, is however a narrow and difficult one, and I could well wish we’d had time to prepare, not merely for the military strike, but for a surveillance campaign of the beach. We are short on provisions (seasonal) and, more importantly, the long-awaited re-supply of camp gear having been missed (and so necessary!) _____ _____ _____ just as our water supply ____ ___ have been cut off. We look like a very sad sort of gypsy army.

(R) is richard and (T) is tom, not sure about (M).

^^ I dont think T is Tom, why would Tom have an agenda? He is a a soldier, a pawn, Ben calls the shots and has the agendas. I think Ben is talking about more higher ups...

actually... ;) look at this part of it again:

(T)’s agenda, which I don’t question, is however a narrow and difficult one, and I could well wish we’d had time to prepare, not merely for the military strike, but for a surveillance campaign of the beach.

i took it as being about the capturing of the pregnant women. i get the sense that it was rushed, and that ben had preferred a surveillance campaign on the beach but had to settle with sending a team to extract the pregnant women with no surveillance. alternatively, i took it as meaning that they are going to be doing a surveillance campaign on the beach camp some time later on, and ben wished they could have prepared, not merely for the extraction of the pregnant women (the "military strike," which it essentially was), but also for the upcoming surveillance campaign.

at this point i honestly believe there is ben, and the only person ben answers to is jacob. but i don't think ben answers to him in the traditional sense. i don't think of jacob as the emperor, i think of him more as the force itself.

M would be Mikhail, surely?
actually, yes, i was just having a mental block.
