Well since the show doesn't rely much on logic, the only answer I can think of is that Zack, Kelly, Lisa and Slater come back as teachers and/or advisors, not 38 year old students.

yeah, they did that years ago, a couple years after the show got cancelled. it's no better or worse than the show usually was, so if you liked the show you'll probably like this too.

The show was never back in "production." Adult Swim just started airing the original episodes which btw they stopped pretty fast.
