I forgot how dope Budden's "10 minutes" was. Damn. I think my sophomore year of college was 90% mood muzik. Then I left the iPod with all the mixtapes at the gym.

I don't dumb down, but I do find myself changing words which are very English to more generic words.

In the USA, people always ask me to repeat myself. It's the accent, and pronounciation.

I aslo find my American friends have trouble understanding our dialect when we drop the letter T from words.

Americans see the word "Letter" and pronounce it "Let-ter", we say "Let-er". Another one is "Bottle", you say "Bot-tle", we say it "Bot-le".

Ive had people think i was saying "Butt hole" when Ive said "Bottle", kinda amusing.

I can usually understand British people unless they start talking fast, which they often do amongst themselves. I can usually see them slowing down and dumbing down a bit when they're talking to me. I dislike it when they go to extremes though. Sometimes I'd just like them to slow down a bit but they start speaking in a really retarded way instead, like "me no speak english zero".

But when they speak in their casual way and have hardcore accents I barely understand what they're talking about.
But I think it also varies from person to person and also different areas of Britain have different accents too - some are easier for me, some are harder.

Please don't base our accents on these types of films. That is a South London rude boy accent. If an offspring of mine spoke like that I would have to cull him.

Much like this fella -

That was my point. If I could understand those kids, why is Prize Gotti acting all cool and special as if he's a martian no one understands?

I have to be honest though, and don't let it go to your head.... But... You are far more cosmopolitan and worldly than most Americans I have met. I think it may be do with where you live, in a modern city. My friend's wife is from Seattle, and she is the same.

But I have to repeat myself regularly in the USA. Even in New York.

Apparently a real life ad promoting tourism in North Dakota. Not the most subtle one. Come eat, get wasted, get laid. I wonder if the tourism office provides hookers. That'd be nice.

I agree with what Pitts said. Living in Seattle, No one is really suprised by British accents, there seems to be a high population of british people there aswell.
