me:

* dj quik - book of david
* killer mike - pl3dge
* cunninlynguists - oneirology
* random axe
* raekwon - shaolin vs. wu-tang

i like the new wu-tang compilation quite a bit right now but it's still cherry so we'll see how i feel down the road. same goes for that gangrene/roc marciano joint. living in philly killed the maybach music mixtape for me (last thursday, i heard five instances of "2pac back" just walking from the office to the coffee shop in mid-afternoon--two stores, two cars, and one dude with headphones way better than mine. smh).

other songs i really really like:
* big krit - rise and shine, r4 theme song, american rapstar
* currensy / freddie gibbs - scottie pippens (if i was younger, currensy would be my favorite rapper. i just don't have time to keep up with all his shit.)
* pusha t - raid, alone in vegas, trouble on my mind
* money making jam boys - comin out hard
* g-side - came up
* freddie gibbs / jeezy - stripes
* tyler the creator - the interlude about boppin bitches
* nas - nasty

i still haven't heard section 80, the bad meets evil album, and action bronson's album. i think method man's killed every verse i've heard him on this year.

i've been listening to this a lot more than it actually deserves: http://wugazi.com/

Bad Meets Evil - Hell: The Sequel
DJ Quik - The Book of David
Katy B - On A Mission
Knoc-Turn'al - Knoc's Ville
LaLa Romero - Love & A Bullet Vol. 1
Marsha Ambrosius - Late Nights & Early Mornings
Nikki Grier - Soulgasm Vol. 6
WC - Revenge Of The Barracuda

A lot of Big Krit and Kendrick Lamar.

Songs I fuck with are 50's Outlaw, Khaled's I'm On One, Nas' Nasty, Rae's Rich & Black, Common's Ghetto Dreams, Dom's Beats Hoes and Rhymes, Choppa Choppa Down (remix), Juicy J's a Zip and a Double Cup, Kreayshawn's Gucci Gucci (i'm serious), The Weeknd's High For This (best track on mixtape, imo), etc.

All in all, I'm bored as fuck with rap music lately. I find myself going back to Masta Ace's A long Hot Summer and bumpin Beautiful on repeat.

Watch The Throne better be good. I want some REPLAY SHIT. Section 80 is dope conceptually and I like the songs but goddamn it, Kendrick, it's not summer music one bit. I bought the damn thang too. The Spiteful Chant is one of the few exceptions of course.

Same. The whole nahrightification of it all is not for me. You throw a hundred songs a day at me, none of em are gonna stick. I can't remember the last time I memorized an entire song.

i can't stand 50's Outlaw. Maybe i keep hearing a bad copy of it or something, but it does NOTHING for me.

Do you guys fuck with Skeme?

Kendrick needs to get more beats from J.Cole. I like how their sound goes good together, imo.

^Kendrick and J. Cole will release a mixtape/album together. I assume J. Cole will do most of the production work. I'm stoked for that. But it's all about timing, so sometimes after J. Cole's debut drops, I'd assume.

I like 50's Outlaw because the beat is catchy and I love how 50's like "Outlaw, we lawless, we ballin out nigga, regardless", etc. It's like a sequel to I Get Money, I feel like.

WOW. an album together?

That sounds GOOD! More hyped for that than any Kanye Jay Z album together.

But as much as I am hyped, what is really happenning to Hip Hop? What happened to everyone trying to have competition to be the best rapper? Now everyone is teaming up like Miami Heat and shit.

Hmm, i'm going to download it again and give it another listen then.

and for the record, i'm sort of disappointed in J.Cole lately....i'm more hyped over Wale right now.

I'm more hyped for Rick Ross' album than the Kanye and Jigga album haha. I saw the video today with Rozay and Alchemist in the studio...heard some dope ass beats in the background.

The shame is that I pretty will defend the apparent 'death' of Hip Hop as over the years I always found new artists, this year, whether a lack of interest or what I don't know.

Though this isn't just for Hip Hop, I'm not overly into music as much this year. I used to have my headphones on me all the time, now..i don't care.

their beats are dope as fuck but the problem is is that some sound TOO familiar sometimes

i dont want to explain why u dont listen to music at all, but i do know that music is boring bc most of the flows are all copied n nothings really original no more. and no rapper is paying attention to the melodies or USE of music in the actual beats. That's why i HAD hope for j.cole, up until i heard disgusting, which was, really a disgusting song.

I'm bumping his The Statement mixtape. I'm pleasantly surprised. It's pretty dope so far. "When You See Me" is my shit haha.

My only issue is that he needs to drop that Krooked stuff. There's one Crooked, and it's Crooked I. Don't confuse people. Find another alias to fuck with.

Tyler, The Creator - Goblin
DJ Quik - The Book of David
Mellowhype - BlackenedWhite (yeah, most of the tracks are from last year but they're mixed way harder on the re-release and there's a few new joints as well)
I've heard a few Kendrick and a few J Cole joints this year that I've liked.
Kreayshawn has a bunch of dope tracks out.
Pusha T's new shit is dope.

Thurz - L.A. Riot

"Oscar Grant you permission to die"

If only the entire U-N-I camp were focused enough to make an album similar to L.A. Riot. Focused, precise and unforgiving. Thurz made a great album.

I know. They had some serious potential. I think y-o was just too soft lol. They obviously didn't see eye to eye and it shows with this Thurz album. You didn't see much of this type of subject matter with u-n-i, definite shame.

yeah, thurz says one of the reasons they broke up is because y-o wouldn't step his lyrical game up. he didn't want to tackle any meaningful subject matter so thurz got frustrated that y-o was holding them back.
