regardless of that,

i understand artists sample everything and copying somone is the highest form of flattery, but to take california love and flip it to a song about new york is a little messed up.....
and not even mention pac...

Exactly. If he just sampled the beat, whatever, but he took the melody of the damn chorus and basically did the opposite of what pac was saying.

That's uncool

If you're in a beef, i.e. "take money" to "hitemup" fine, but...to do this is just fucking lame.

Tupacs version of California Loves beat was made from samples from Joe Cockers "Women For Women", and the chorus from Ronnie Hudson & The Street People "West Coast Poplock".

So who's to say that they're are sampling Pac?

^^^exactly. even the beat on this one is not the same exact beat (same sample). however, i agree that they probably got the idea from Pac.

This is so dumb. No not this song, even though it's not good, this thread. Seriously, they aren't even doing anything wrong but taking a popular song, sort of redoing it and that's it. Hating on the artists in it is funny and childish. Why on Earth would they need to shout out Pac or Dre or anyone involved in the original. Salty cus artists aren't shouting out samples and inspiration on every song, like for real?

This isn't one of the beats that should be used to represent New York... just saying, can't turn your back on history. lol

its just messed up how they flipped it to be a song about new york,
if they use the beat and talk about something else, than thats more acceptable

They are pretty much sampling Tupac, because he got BOTH samples and used it in the SAME song.

And Joe Cocker fans weren't pissed off when Tupac jacked his song? Thinking about the majority of Pacs most famous songs have beats jacked from songs from the 70s.

I think this is just a case of too much riding Pacs dick.

i heard this on the radio last nite and was kinda iffy on it, but actually i like what jim jones does with his verse. i think its more paying hommage, i mean we all know who ur favorite rappers favorite rapper is...
