Is Nicki Minaj the new Lil Wayne?

it means that you destroy every track you're on yet get no respect for it, in the beginning anyway.
I remember the beginning, and I distinctly remember his debut coming out:

This was in the days when I used to buy The Source every month without fail.

Anyway, the point is, neither this album, or the follow up "Lights Out" were anything special. He certainly wasn't destroying every track. It wasn't until his third album "500 Degreez" where he began improving, and then there was a substantial improvement between that album and "The Carter" and then another substantial improvement between "Carter 2" and "Carter 3", and then I would say he's probably stayed at about the same skill level since then.

I meant the beginning of the whining about Wayne. No one really whined about Wayne until after Carter II when every man, woman, and child either listened to him or specifically did not want to listen to him. It was after he went into beast mode and started dropping mixtapes every other day, when he was being featured on anything and everything. The period of Dedication 2 and The Drought 3 is the period I'm tallking about as the beginning.

Also, I don't think he made a substantial improvement from the Carter II to the Carter III. Lyrical substance took a hit, so did beat selection. But I don't want to derail the thread into that.

The block is hot the block is hot hot hot. I've been listening to Wayne for a long time, crazy.

But to answer your question, yes.
And I will continue cracking jokes and hating until I feel people look at her as the joke that she is.

Derail all you want S O F I, all that can really be said in this thread is "Lil Wayne/Nicki Minaj's voice is annoying!" and "stfu with your bitching". A Hip-Hop head who says Wayne (at his best) isn't dope needs his pass revoked and learn a little bit more about Hip-Hop. Same with Nicki, she's good. I'm not going to buy her album or anything but her guest appearances kill ("lol kill the track").

Some people do over-rate him.

I was on youtube and seen comments by people who said he'd smash Pac and Biggie if they were alive. It got like 50 thumbs up.

I think Nicki Minaj is good, but needs to learn how to not over do what she is good at and improve some things she is bad at.

If she does that, she'll have more respect from more people and won't be 'the new lil wayne'

^is lil wayne a top 10 rapper?
Top 10 of what? All-time? A specific year? Then there's the question of what factors you include. All-time? No Of a specific year? Perhaps.

Yes but who are the people that overrate him? If it's some teenybopper then it's not even worth mentioning. If it's the people that only listen to songs about "swagga" with knowledge of Hip-Hop that only stretches back to 2000 (at best) then it's not worth mentioning.

^true. Didn't think of it like that.

Still, I bet if he releases the Carter VI, he'll get 4.5 or 5 stars on magazines, just because he's the biggest thing besides Eminem right now.

No, Kanye is the biggest thing right now, but that's beside the point. Whenever a rapper is "on top", whether that be the best-selling or the one the most in the public eye, he will be deemed overrated. The rants of "overrated" come with the territory. I never understood people who say the stuff anyway. What do you mean he's overrated? His songs shouldn't be as popular as they are? His flow doesn't destroy beats? I don't get it.

So you're saying that S O F I overrated Wayne by asking if he shouldn't be as popular as he is and that Wayne has an excellent flow?
Right...
