“…And Hammer went broke so you know I’m more focused. I lost 30 mil so I spent another 30. Cause unlike Hammer 30 million can’t hurt me.”

Turns out MC Hammer is real pissed about this line....

This shit is....fuckin' ridiculous!

EDIT: MC Hammer posted this yesturday...Watch out Jay!! lol

lol @ MCHammer.

It better be good. Jay-Z got mad that Kanye leaked this, because it's on the actual album.

That line was probably his hardest line there though.

I think everyone came pretty hard, and I liked the song. Probably one of the best songs to come out for a while. I believe Kanye when he said that he and Jay are continuing where they left off at BP3. Even though, I'm not a Jay-Z fan, I gotta give props where it's due.

I just get so tired of hearing Jay z bragg about money... So youre rich, great.... And taking shots at a rapper that hasn't been relevent in 20 years, give me a break.... He goes out of his way to duck any battle in which he could actually be made to look a fool..... He braggs about money and the "numbers" of his sales, but in reality his numbers are no where near what they appear to be..... Didn't the Black Album drop like 90% in sales from week 1 to 2.... well what that means is that the public didn't buy all those albums the first week, Jay or his label did.... Dude makes me sick.... Such a fake.... Go hang out with Warren Buffet and Bloomberg and just retire.... I've never been a fan but I just get so tired of how the media and the agenda driven industry try to annoint this guy the "Greatest"..... Yes he was a pretty good rapper.....

What I don't understand is how he gets a pass for everything.... People hate on Game cause of his name drops, but to me Jay and his constant boasting of money are far worse.... Anybody else would get called out but since Jay has screwed over business partners and became rich, he is now the man.....

If a rapper, lets say Joe Budden, was propped up by the industry and had the money put into his projects that Jay has had, he would sale just as many albums..... Personally I think Jay has always been a boring rapper and is about as deep as a kiddie pool..... But people like him..... And people also like Soulja Boy and Lil Wayne so go figure

I think what Jay said was just a clever line at Hammer's expense. That's rap. Big deal. I don't think he meant to hurt anyone's feelings. Also, I doubt Hammer's feelings were even hurt. He just sees an opportunity to get on somebody's radar again so he tweets about it. That's all.

And I wouldn't say anybody of Jay-Z's talent is a boring rapper. He's disappointing sometimes, but never boring.

One more thing: besides Jay-Z's verse, this song is absolutely terrible.

^exactly, that clever line was just RAP, anyway.

Just like Fabulous' line in a different song:
"That's suspect, like R.Kelly with girl scout cookies"

That line isn't really about bragging about money or trying to diss Hammer or even just a clever line because it's not really clever. The line is basically saying that while a lot of rappers make a lot of money, not a lot of rappers retain it. It's hard to remain relevant in the rap industry and still continue making the kind of money you were making when you were on top. Jay-Z is still doing that. He briefly touched upon this subject in his interview with Buffet. He said "rappers really love shiny things". Rappers aren't financially responsible and spend money as soon as they earn it. That's the point of that line. It is bragging about money but put in a context. He just happened to single out Hammer. Is he the one doing those stupid cash 4 gold commercials...or is that sir mix a lot?

And as far as that "jay z is as deep as a kiddie pool" or that he only brags about how rich he is...I'd take some time to argue those points, but what's the point when there's a whole book coming out to prove you wrong:

His voice is monotone and repetitive... I also struggle to follow his flow sometimes... I like Jay as a person, and I can see how talented he is... But I am not a fan...

There are tracks I really like.... But I think I only own about 2 or 3 of his albums...

I didn't even listen to the song... I dont like Kanye or Jay so that song wouldn't appeal to me.... And what someone else said above, its his monotone voice that I find very boring.... He may some slick things, but it sounds boring because he doesnt have a voice that keeps my attention....

I just think its strange that he tries to be so subliminal about other rappers but will put Hammer down in a song.... And yes I bet Hammer did take offense to it.... He could have said what he was trying to say without bringing a rapper from the 80's into it.... But I guess we wouldn't be talking about it then.....

I'll be honest, I have never really gave Jay a chance..... THe only 2 songs that Jay is on that I have listened to more than a hand full of times are Renegade and Guess who's Back with Scarface...... I just always thought he was a bit too arrogant and that's exactly why I don't like Kanye.... And it really bugs me that people proclaim Jay to be the best ever....

Its all based on an individual's opinion, but I think Scarface, Eminem, Pac, Biggie, and Nas are all better rappers than Jay... Scarface just seemed to not be able to write a really breakthrough single (other than a couple of marginal hits) and thats why he gets overlooked by so many..... Too many times a rapper is labeled a great rapper because he can make good singles..... Good songwriters are not always good rappers.... ANd not to mention some 80's guys like Rakim and others....

Jay came along at the right time and had a good team around him.... (Jay would not be as big today without Dame)

Maybe if I actually sat and listened to all Jay's album's I would change my opinion... Really I guess I'm not in a good position to judge since I don't listen to him.... He just comes off as an arrogant ass to me, like in that little video where that dude is trying to sale him some candy or something..... He just is too hollywood to me..... I can just tell he is not a good human being.... All that money and how many times do you see him out doing things for people that are less fortunate... He may participate in these big celebrity charity events that they do just for publicity but when have you read about him visiting sick kids or taking time to do anything.... You can donate your money if youre rich, but the ones that donate their time are the ones I respect.....

I know these things don't mean anything to most people.... But rap, in my mind is more than music.... That's what originally made rap special and popular.... Not just because a song is catchy or he said a slick metaphor.... Rap, at least to me, is supposed to make you think, make you see things from another perspective... That seems all rap is now a days is metaphors and similes.... No substance, especially on the radio..... And I think Jay was one of the main figures that has perpetuated this trend, and there is no end in sight.... I like some songs like that but every single song on the radio not only sounds the same but talks about the same old things....

I really thought that Jay was going to go against all that with DOA, but then he makes his other singles about all the money and power he has....

Sorry people this is much longer than I wanted it to be..... THis is a subject I could go on about for hours..... I'm sure I come off as weird to many of you, but I just hate what hip hop has turned into and I place alot of blame of this on artists such as Jay.... He is no doubt talented, rich and powerful..... I just wish he would use those things to transform this garbage that is being force fed to us and take rap back to its true form...... There is a place for the kind of hip hop that is popular now, but it needs to be balanced out by hip hop that has substance.... Jay could be at the front of that but it is too risky for him and he may lose some money..... And I guess that's all that matters
