You can pretty much hook up an external hard drive to your ps3 and then copy ps3 games to the hd. After that you can play the games you copied to the hd without having the actual disc.

^Oh, I see. I don't know, I'm pretty liberal when it comes to consuming media illegally by downloading movies, TV shows, and music, but I just find something wrong in undergoing a jailbreak process to download games for free. I don't know, there's no rationality to my belief...hypocritical and all it is.

You can transfer them to internal hd as well.

You may not want to steal games... You may just want them all on a HD so you don't have to keep swapping discs. It may also make it possible to install other apps. Such as XBMC, if someone writes a patch. Making the PS3 a very useful media centre.
