I mean these emotional love songs of the 70s, 80s, 90s. Maybe it's just me but they had something amazing in them that no modern songs have. Imo everything's been replaced by singing about sex and crazy parties, drained of all emotions and "spirituality?".
I still remember the times when songs sparked teenagers to do cool things. Run away for their own adventures and stuff. I actually regret not being able to be a teenager in late 80s/early 90s. They had the best music there was and it was actually touching. Still sends chills down my spine. I consider these songs to be so different from everything else that it's barely "just music" to me.
They have that emotional substance. Not necessarily lyrics which usually were silly. What other modern songs sound like this?
Listening to a song like this after a break up with your girlfriend opened up gates to a whole new level of sensations. Now everything is so dull and.. casual. Drained of any substance.
Heck, I could listen to a Bon Jovi album that would put me in a mood no modern album could. I'm bringing this up because Da Funk came up with a spot on comparison - that decade or two ago Bon Jovi was to rock music what 50 cent/soulja boy are to hip-hop right now. Hell, give me Bon Jovi over Soulja boy anytime.
