Watch it in HD.

This looks so sick. Scorpion as the protagonist is a good idea. Reptile looks scary as fuck.

I like the spin on it. There are only so many ways you can turn Mortal Kombat into a movie, this is a breath of fresh air. I'm happy to see Scorpion as the main protagonist cause Sub Zero sucks dick, and Lu Kang is a sissy.

I'll be seeing this, even if it gets bad reviews, because it's my youth on film :)

Oh, I'm happy to see Johnny Cage dead, I hated him... lol

EDIT: Actually i would love to suck Sub-Zero's dick!

Sub-Zero is the shit fuck all you haters! Meet me in MK2 on PSN and i'll whoop ya ass with him.

Edit: But I won't lie, I have an unsatisfying craving for lidless googly eyeballed men like Scorpion, he makes my penis tingle.

Wow this is a must watch for me. It'll be probably the first commercial movie I'll watch this year. Looks awesome. Yeah and Scorpion's been my most used MK character followed by Sub-Zero and then cyrax. Like Flipmo said, I'm going to watch it regardless.

That was very cool. I hope they make it into a movie soon.

The guy that plays Baraka is in Undisputed 3, the guy that did the choreography for this also did it for that movie, which is the sequel to Undisputed 2 which stars Michael Jai White. He recently directed, produced, wrote and starred in the fucking AWESOME movie Blood And Bone. Check them all out if you liked this.

^^I like her looks, and I'm a fan of brunettes.

Wow, I didn't know there were so many MK fans on here. When I watch the two installments of the movie this time round, I can't help but think how corny they are. It's a franchise that has all the potential to be great but they just f!@#$d it all up. I can afford a smile though, coz also the guys that wrote Iron Man 2 totally killed that franchise. Anyway he can GTFOH, this is a MK thread.

Make the game, then give us a worthwhile movie. Sub Zero FTW.

A great new spin on the franchise. I've always believed that the MK series has so much more potential then the Street Fighter series. In retrospect it should've been MK v Marvel not capcom v marvel. As the characters from MK are so much more relatable to the Marvel series.

Reptile in this is just SICK!!!! Make this a movie or a Resident Evil type of game. Just like Marvel and Ultimate Marvel, the MK series should branch out into different plots and stories and background involving the same old characters we grew up with.

Have a CLASSIC MK series and call this the Ultimate MK series or the Dark MK series. Whatever. Ed Boon stop being a noob and like Q-Tip "Make It Work".

Some things look good, some things look like total ass. Ultimately it'll suck. Looking forward to it though.

I found a picture of what Sub-Zero will look like:

Sub-zero is so cool. Where's Kitana???!! Flipmo, its Liu Kang. Scorpion and the first three i mentioned there are my favourite four. I kinda guessed it was going to be Scopion.

One thing im wondering is if they'll set the movie on Earth, because im sure MK was meant to be in another realm.

And that birth defect, i recall a friend researching that on google a long time ago - people used to call them devil babies or something like that.. it was sickening. a very rare birth defect where the veins were also on the outside (if thats the same one).

anyway, this movie looks quite good.. need kitana with her fans. mmm.

I used to love the original MK movies when I was a kid. I watched them again last year and I was hugely disappointed because I remembered much better than they actually were. From the scenario, to the special effects, to the actors. It all sucked.

I like how they put a twist to it. They are making it more real, a la Batman new generation maybe?

When I went on FB 10 different friends had posted the movie.

UPDATE: What is Mortal Kombat: Rebirth?
Source: Latino Review
June 9, 2010

UPDATE: Jeri Ryan has revealed on her Twitter account what the video was made for - "Not a game trailer. Actually was made by the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film."

UPDATE #2: CraveOnline has scored an exclusive interview with Matt Mullins, the actor who plays Johhny Cage in the short film and who discusses how the project came about. Click here to check it out.

Speculation has run rampant today with the debut of a short "Mortal Kombat" film (subtitled "Rebirth") that made its way anonymously to YouTube. Now, Latino Review reports that the film is, as many theorized, a test for a potential R-rated film reboot of the video game franchise.

The short is directed by Kevin Tancharoen, the director of last year's Fame, and features a cast that includes name actors like Michael Jai White (Jax), Jeri Ryan (Sonya Blade), Matt Mullins (Johnny Cage), Lateef Crowder (Baraka) and Ian Anthony Dale (Scorpion) with fight choreography by Larnell Stovall.

Though there is no guarantee that these actors will play the characters in a feature film version or even that a feature film will actually happen, the short is already a huge success online, with the word "Kombat" already a trending topic on Twitter.
UPDATE: What is Mortal Kombat: Rebirth? - ComingSoon.net

Exclusive Interview with Mortal Kombat Actor
We talk to the actor playing Johnny Cage, Matt Mullins.
by Becky Young
Jun 09, 2010

CraveOnline: Who is the director behind it?

Matt Mullins: The short was directed by Kevin Tancharoen (Who also directed the FAME remake)

CraveOnline: Who are the other actors involved?

Matt Mullins: Michael Jai White - Jax, Jeri Ryan - Sonya Blade, Ian Anthony Dale - Scorpion, Lateef Crowder - Baraka and
Richard Dorton - Reptile.

CraveOnline: How did you become involved in the project?

Matt Mullins: I had known Kevin for about 5 years, but I never had a chance to work with him. A few months I got a call from Kevin about being involved in a short that he was planning to shoot. He sent me the script and I was blown away. When I sat down to meet with him, and he explained his vision, I was so excited to be involved and could not wait to start.

CraveOnline: Is the developer of the game at all involved?

Matt Mullins: I'm not sure how much Midway is involved. Warner Brother acquired Midway last year, and I know they have seen the short, but I don't know what they think. Personally I think this is a movie that is right up their alley.
