Technology XBox question

My son bought an XBox, I don't want to spend $100 for a wireless setup for it but if I don't then he is stuck in my basement where he can hardline into my router. Does anyone on here know of any other wireless adapter that works with XBox that I can get and just plug into a USB port so he is able to play his XBox in his room? Any help would be appreciated.

^^im not sure. As far as i know, the official wireless adapter is the only one that will work.

but you could get a long ethernet cable and run it from your router to the xbox 360.

you buy them pretty cheap on ebay.

I had some headaches trying to share my pc wifi with the 360 through ethernet. If you want to avoid the head-scratching, I'd bite the bullet and get the official dongle. Look for a good deal on ebay or elsewhere. NewEgg has them for $75 shipped.

^^so did i and i ran an long ethernet cable from my router up through the attic and down into my xbox 360 which is in a different room. much cheaper than buying the wireless adapter,.

already have a PS3, he bought an XBox with his money because all of his school friends play XBox and he wanted to be able to play also. I found something on how to turn an old router into a receiver for an xbox and I have an old router here so I'm gonna try that.
