I thought Rebirth was supposed to be the 'rock' album. Hopefully that ideas is getting abandoned, cos Wayne's attempts at making rock music were just pitiful.

Rebirth was never really meant to be a rock album. He might have stated that in the beginning, soon after the Carter 3 release, but later on Wayne described it as an album where he doesn't feel constrained by anything. He feels that with his rap albums, he has a general idea of what he wants to say and how he wants to do it. With this record, he says he doesn't want to hold anything back. Basically, it's an experimental album of sorts, not meant to be specific to any genre.

I've heard it described as being a rock album as recently as 2-3 months ago, plus he's holding a guitar on the cover so he obviously wants to give that impression.

Of course I'm not suggesting that the guitar as a musical instrument is strictly limited to rock artists, but that's the image it gives off, and Wayne knows that. I think he's been spending too much time with Kevin Rudolf.

Yeah, I'm just going off what he said recently somewhere. It might have actually been on the Carter documentary that I saw him talk about. But he's always high as fuck so you can't hold him to his word on much of anything.

Most likely backpedalling due to the less-than-enthusiastic response to "Prom Queen" and that other mess that they've been trying to push as a single.

LOL at Sandeep "I don't like Jimmy Iovine's ideas". That is classic.

Also, this is on Wayne's album, which will be released on Universal Records, not Interscope, so your remark is without merit. Mr. Iovine has no control over what artists on other labels do.

no i mean in general about what iovine was trying to engineer about catering towards the black audience once more. i know this is on another label and iovine doesnt have authority about what other labels do. LOL.

Eminem has made a record with Lil Wayne called “Drop The World.”

The second collaboration of the main rap artists, who first rapped together on Drake’s “Forever” song, is featured on Wayne’s new 12-track-album Rebirth.

Rebirth is out in stores on December 15th.
