For those who don't know, Jay has moved to prime-time. The show's ratings are wobbly (roughly 6 million viewers). But thats OK because NBC has a full proof plan.

So... who's watching Leno tonight?

When Letterman was younger, he was hilarious. He'd go into the streets with that bald fuck and pull pranks and everything. Now all he does is weird comments, then looks at the camera and licks his teeth.

Not to mention stupid skits as... WILL IT SINK? and they throw a sink into the pool.

Hooo Fucking great.

I haven't seen the new Jay Leno show, but the Tonight Show was the shit.

Tonight Show > All other late night shows.

Conan came in second.

What's happening with Conan? I haven't been up on the stories.

His ratings suck? They're taking the tonight show from him?

NBC isn't taking The Tonight Show from Conan, they are only moving him to the 12:05 AM time slot. They will move Jay Leno to 11:35 PM.

There will be a press tour held by NBC this morning that may tell us what their plan is for their late night TV lineup.

Jay Leno actually did a show last night in Richmond, BC at the River Rock Casino. I couldn't make it tho. :(

Actually Leno, Conan and Fallon haven't been signed yet. For sure Jay's going to take back his late night spot. But nothing is guaranteed for Conan. I read FOX wants him. As for Fallon, I don't know he isn't much talked.

What sucks is they are going to replace the Jay Leno show with more tv realities. Get some decent scripted shows instead. I can't stand those tv realities anymore.

Jimmy Fallon blows. He wasn't even much on SNL, the asshole kept laughing during skits, he was only good at the News Headlines skit.

I always thought Tina Fey would be a great host, and I'm not just saying that cause I think she's cute.

As for reality shows, meh ... I watched last season of Survivor, and I watch Jersey Shore only cause it's hilarious. lol

They're not going to get rid of Conan. If Conan leaves he'll go to another network and turn into a major competitor for NBC. I doubt he'll leave.

Fuck NBC. You can't shit on someone like that.

Conan's public statement is bang-on point:

Conan released this statement:

People of Earth:

In the last few days, I’ve been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I’ve been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I’ve been absurdly lucky.

That said, I’ve been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.

Six years ago, I signed a contract with NBC to take over The Tonight Show in June of 2009. Like a lot of us, I grew up watching Johnny Carson every night and the chance to one day sit in that chair has meant everything to me. I worked long and hard to get that opportunity, passed up far more lucrative offers, and since 2004 I have spent literally hundreds of hours thinking of ways to extend the franchise long into the future. It was my mistaken belief that, like my predecessor, I would have the benefit of some time and, just as important, some degree of ratings support from the prime-time schedule. Building a lasting audience at 11:30 is impossible without both.

But sadly, we were never given that chance. After only seven months, with my Tonight Show in its infancy, NBC has decided to react to their terrible difficulties in prime-time by making a change in their long-established late night schedule.

Last Thursday, NBC executives told me they intended to move the Tonight Show to 12:05 to accommodate the Jay Leno Show at 11:35. For 60 years the Tonight Show has aired immediately following the late local news.

I sincerely believe that delaying the Tonight Show into the next day to accommodate another comedy program will seriously damage what I consider to be the greatest franchise in the history of broadcasting. The Tonight Show at 12:05 simply isn’t the Tonight Show. Also, if I accept this move I will be knocking the Late Night show, which I inherited from David Letterman and passed on to Jimmy Fallon, out of its long-held time slot.

That would hurt the other NBC franchise that I love, and it would be unfair to Jimmy.

So it has come to this: I cannot express in words how much I enjoy hosting this program and what an enormous personal disappointment it is for me to consider losing it. My staff and I have worked unbelievably hard and we are very proud of our contribution to the legacy of The Tonight Show. But I cannot participate in what I honestly believe is its destruction. Some people will make the argument that with DVRs and the Internet a time slot doesn’t matter. But with the Tonight Show, I believe nothing could matter more.

There has been speculation about my going to another network but, to set the record straight, I currently have no other offer and honestly have no idea what happens next. My hope is that NBC and I can resolve this quickly so that my staff, crew, and I can do a show we can be proud of, for a company that values our work.

Have a great day and, for the record, I am truly sorry about my hair; it’s always been that way

I'm 100% behind Conan, but I'm also 100% behind Jay.

NBC has made this decision on their own, without Jay Leno's approval. They have not only put Jay in a bad position, but have now turned him into "the bad guy."

With all due respect to Conan O'Brien, he just isn't delivering the high ratings that NBC wants him to. This would be a great time for a sequel to The Late Shift to capture all of this drama. Michael Moore, I hope you are taking notes.

You need to give the guy time. Conan's been doing the show for 7 months, he took over from Leno who has been doing it for 16 years. It's like the people who criticize Obama. I mean damn, give the guy some fuckin time yo.

No show is gonna have built a huge audience in that time. I bet Leno's ratings weren't that great in his first year after taking over from Johnny Carson either.

Conan is capable of being bigger than Leno imo. He has ideas and a sense of humor that appeals a lot more to younger people, while Leno is just losing steam imo.

I always hear people in school talking about "Hey did you see that Conan skit?"

and lmao @ Conan's hair comment.
