My wife's cousin is a hardcore fan. She has "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" tattooed on her back. I guess she's a Syd Barrett fan mostly. What are your thoughts on "Piper At The Gates of Dawn" compared to the rest of Floyd's catalog? Being as it's the only album that was mostly written by Syd.

I know you weren't asking me, but Piper is the best Pink Floyd album. Everything else they did is good, mostly, but a bit florid and serious for my tastes. They were trying to be a band they never were. Also, most concept albums that aren't by the Beatles or the Who suck really bad.

I don't care for it. It is too tripped out for me. I like the Roger Waters/David Gilmour combination much more. A lot of people will say this means I'm not a real fan, but fuck them.

No way man...what did you listen to? You should check out "Romulus," "The Mistress Witch of McClure," and "The Transfiguration." I'm not sure if you just listened to some bad tracks or what, but Sufjan Stevens is pretty amazing.

I've heard some songs here and there. I should sit down and listen to an album sometime. But I think the source of my hatred is threefold: 1) Many idiots I know like Sufjan Stevens. 2) I saw Sufjan Stevens in Chicago in 2006 and it was the worst show I've ever been to, besides the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who are arguably the suckiest band in history. 3) I honestly disliked the songs I did hear.

But I'll give an album a try.
