This rant stems from a conversation I was having on Yahoo with SicC and Big Easy.
Here is why I retired and why you can all suck my dick. None of you have really done anything, and in my opinion, the whole community online behind hiphop has become a bunch of fucking posers and assholes with no talent or motivation what so ever past their little 15 minutes of internet fame.
When Jon was running HitEmUp.com, Chris and I became involved and we learned the whole ropes, from design, to writing, to coding, to everything, which means if any of us wasnt around the other guy was there to pick up the slack. Back then, in those days, sites were quality. Ill even go as far as to say our competition back then, was better than any site today. Better than Mr Makaveli or whatever, no offense to those guys, its just a different era now. Sites like Madeniggaz.net were the fucking shit, and while we competed and beefed, everything was done with respect and quality.
Nowdays people install some software slap a skin on it, a shitty ass 5 second so called logo and away they go on their little internet empire. Back then, we would take pride with our designs and layouts. I mean seriously, all the Tupac forums out there now, layout wise, suck dick compared to HitEmUp, TupacBoard, 2PacZone, MadeNiggaz, TruThugz, whatever.
Also, the new kids nowdays dont want to actually do anything, they want a quick easy way into the so called online game. Not one person on the staff of StreetHop in the past 6 years has expressed any interest in helping the site and forum on anything other than news. Back in my day, we all helped out with content, graphics, layout, etc.
Seriously, what do you think is going to happen with me gone? Do you think someone like Sigh will all of a sudden learn photoshop and redesign the site every year? Do you think Sebastian will learn PHP code too add new features? No, no, no, no.
There is absolutely NOBODY out there that will pick up the slack, but everybody wants to talk shit like I owe them something, or the community here owes them something, because they blessed us with some threads, or were a moderator. I thank every mod out there, but really, a 10 year old could do your job. It takes time, and good help is hard to find, but it's not really furthering the site in any substantial way.
No body steps up to add any creative input, no body steps up to add any marketing ideas, no body steps up with any financial aid, no body steps up with any ideas, no body steps up with any initiative, I have to literally chase people to do the simplest of things.
And at least, while SicC hasnt done anything creative, he has done those other things behind the scene, money, distribution, ideas, etc etc.
And for that reason, everybody else apart from the select few, and the news staff (those of whom are actually active) can suck my dick.
The only person that even springs to mind, apart from Pittsey, Chris, Stephen, to come close in the past 10 years to actually doing something is Chronic. Chronic ran his own sites, and tried to do creative things, not just try to steal some lime light, and thats why I miss Chronic and welcome him back at any time.
Fuck if anybody with half the talent that Chronic had stepped up to me, Id hand StreetHop.com over to them.
Like I said, without me, really, while the forum will live on, the actual site will be gone in a year.
So next time you all complain, shut up, and ask yourselves, what have you REALLY done for StreetHop.com's development?
