Film & TV Which show is better: The Office or The Office?

I've never seen it. So which is better, the British show or the American one, if you've seen both? I'm guessing Brits will like theirs better and vice versa. Do they have the same plots?

British humor is really dumb. I never understood their one single joke. My English teacher was english, he's a total moron and he's funny but he does it unintentionally but whenever an english guy tries to be funny he's just being a moron.
I've seen some parts of english the office and it was totally unfunny. It was just plain dumb but unfunny.

I'm not sure about American version.

I've seen both. The American version has followed the British plot somewhat, but it has engaged more characters in it. Keep in mind that the British office had like 14 episodes total, while the American version is running on over 60+ episodes at the moment.

You could watch the whole British version in a day or two and then start catching up on the American one.

Anyway, the British version was better. In fact, the British version was practically perfect. The American version is good, but it strays pretty far from the original premise. It's supposed to be a mockumentary, but the fact that there's 60 episodes of it makes that hard to believe. It's very funny, but it's a more general kind of humour. Conversely, the American version relies more on outrageous situations, exaggerated characters, sight gags etc. The performances were better in the original too, far more subtle. Other than Jim and Pam, most of the other characters are (or become) caricatures of sorts. Even then, the relationship between Jim and Pam isn't as effective as the relationship between Tim and Dawn in the original.

The first series of the American version is basically a scene-for-scene remake of the original. Having seen the original, it's not very good. After they stop working off the old scripts, it gets much better.

Quantum physics and neuroscience are much easier to understand than english humOR for non-english people imo
because it's something you can learn in school, at least basics.

When I said I don't understand it I didn't mean it literally.
It meant that I find english humor unfunny and moronic but that's just my opinion.

If anything English humor usually requires some measure of intelligence. American humor is usually toilet humor. I enjoy both.
Like Illu pointed out English humor is often more subtle and more suited for shows like The Office, at least when trying to show how boring their jobs are. The Office US is surreal.

Yes american humor is literally dumb compared to English humor but it's so stupid that it's actually funny.
English humor is somewhere in between and it's neither dumb enough to be funny nor casual-smart enough.

That's at least how I see it.
To be more specific I understand what's meant to be funny in English jokes but they don't even make me smile. They make me thing it's miserable, while even heavy american humor is so dumb that it makes me laugh.
Of course nothing will replace our middle-european humor - I grew up with it but it's very specific too.

It's not necessarily an American/English thing. Spinal Tap, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Arrested Development all have a subtle humour.
