Alright, now that I know why you don't post, let me ask, WHAT can we DO to make you post? Seriously, what would make you post? Just curious.

Of course, most of you are thinking, "oh if there are more posts/threads I'd post more" Yeah well, if you don't help create threads and posts, its a never ending circle.

But yeah, just like the other thread, invisible or not, I can see who views the thread, so if you are viewing right now, POST. Drop a line, make this thread as successful as the other one and tell us, what would make [highlight]YOU[/highlight] post more often.

StreetHop needs to start organizing topics and threads.. even creating a dozen sub forums. maybe divide time periods or different areas of Tupac Shakur's life. Make it easier for new fans to find the information they want. ask Dante or Banky or whoever that has the extensive knowledge on certain topic to make threads that have accurate info. shit, we can even have a "what if" sub-forum for the daydreamers. having a mod come in and closing threads for "being old" isn't doing much. also, add in a post count limit like we have in Chat - members with less than such and such number of posts can't create threads. this would eliminate new fans from posting dead threads. have life be the main forum with current subjects - like events that are no older than one year. I don't see myself posting much because there isn't much to go on, really. but I see myself reading those organized threads to reflect while smoking trees.

However, I've moved on with rap now, and love more the ragga junglist stylez...the only rap i like now is old school, pretty much ne thing from 99 and previous..mostly early 90z...also...imo, the whole alcatraz and the other crew was really gay...for godz sake's this is the net, not no real shit

here's what i envision.

mrmakaveli.net has no inclination to work with us. why? because there is no gain for them. they will not cut us slack, and if you choose to use them as a source for something but not give the proper creds, they will not take it lightly, start talking shit about us, and since they have so many more users that's not good if the general idea over there is that streethop sucks. it used to be and it's only been toned down over the recent year, but if activity does grow here again, i don't think it's wise for the streethop administration to sport or even endorse anti-mrmak attitudes like so many people have.

we need to put someone in charge of the life forum who really wants to put it back up. someone needs to go over to mrmak, look at their stickies with the most recent news and post them here. if mrmak brought the news, make sure you credit them. if someone who is not a mod made a thread with news that came from mrmak and someone points it out, make a point of it in the thread that the member should credit them. it's only right anyway. if they put up an exclusive download, don't post their direct link, link it to their thread. that way they won't have a problem with us and we'll have our shit straight in any case.

most people are sheep. in certain situations i may take on a leadership role and we all might if we're presented with the right situation, but we are also people and we all need guidance. if someone took up the job of making an attempt at breathing some air into Life again, and spent a few weeks making quality threads and gave people inclination to make good posts, there is a large psychological value in that. i believe it could trigger something in more posters, the end result being that we have more activity. more activity makes us look more appealing to outsiders, and the user base might start growing. there are so many tupac heads on the net, and they're not all 15 year old kids, and if the tupac section started growing on this site, the other sections would sub-sequently see more activity as well. as a hiphop forum this website is one in a million. it's hard for a new-comer on that scene to make an impact. as a tupac website, we do not really compete with a lot of large forums, and being that the Life forum is basically the remnants of TupacBoard.com, that also scores us some points either way, i think it's easier for us to catch people through the tupac forum than through, say, our block or the streets. at least to begin with.

now i'm not some guillable fuck. this is not the 100% flawless recipe to get this forum back up and running, but you asked me what i think can be done and this is what i think can be done.

i don't think we would necessarily "take them out" and i actually respect mrmakaveli for the things they have done over there. they are doing good things for the pac scene. they also don't lick amaru's ass, something streethop although not really willingly has been forced to do in the past in order to not lose our sources.

beyond that, you are essentially right. the people who run it got to know each other and got involved with the scene while tupacboard was still in action. let's not take too much credit though they have taken things a step further over there.

what i said coincides with what you suggested. basically, don't let it be a dusty old corner of the forum, because so long as that is the only function it serves, it will not pull people, and this forum will ONLY pull people from the tupac shit. i mean think about it for a while. how often do you just randomly sign up to some forum like that and actually start going there? there needs to be something here that no one else has to offer.

design wise, mrmakaveli is very bright. white or at best bright bright gray background, black table borders and gray-ish red design to it. very nice looking actually, but they use the full-screen thing where the forum stretches all the way to the sides. i honestly prefer the style on streethop.

activity wise it's like this forum was back when it was at it's absolute greatest, whenever that was, i don't even remember anymore. new thread gets at least 10-15 replies within half an hour no doubt, unless it's a stupid thread. there is activity 24/7 to the point where they have mods from diff world regions to cover the time zones, not because it's a nice idea in theory, but because it is actually needed.

Preach - linking to their threads? Not a good idea IMO. The first principle of site competition is that you don't give people a reason to visit another site that is about the same thing. Surely that's obvious? People can go on about how they want sites to be able to work together for the greater good, and it's a nice theory in principle, but this ain't communism and to be realistic that shit ain't ever gonna happen.

I think you are trying to play the role of mediator and here, but really what that boils down to is that you are sitting on the fence. In the real-world, there is no sitting on the fence. You make your decision, one way or the other.

The number 1 thing I hate about smoking weed (even though I enjoy it a lot), and the whole reason I've drastically cut down on doing it is because it gives you THAT EXACT attitude. That weed-clouded far too laid-back attitude of "It's all good, everything will work out just fine, let's sit back and watch the world go by, let's all get along, not make any decisions unless I have to". It is a lazy and lethargic attitude, and as much as I love buddah, that's the worst thing about it, not the health problems and bullshit reasons the media shouts about and in 10 years time you will look back and think "What the fuck did I do with the last 10 years of my life?".

I'm not saying that's you, but I am seeing that attitude come through in your suggestions for how this board should progress. There is no working with a rival and you should never have even mentioned that, that should be a given. You don't think it's wise for here to sport an anti mrmak attitude - yet they sport an anti-streethop attitude (at least some of them, pretty obviously since some of them are banned members of here). Trying to be righteous and have the "2 wrongs doesn't make a right" stance is not going to work in this instance. Of course I am not advocating unjustified hatred towards them, but if people want to express a criticism, let them go ahead, however they want to. If that makes it seem like there is bad attitude towards another site, so be it.
