I haven't worked out for a while.

I started to work out again ( I think Last week), and I usually wait at least a day before I hit the same muscle. However, I'm so sore, that I think tomorrow I will still be sore. (I last worked out on Saturday.)

I usually am okay by a day of rest, so that's why I am asking this question....

Should I wait if I am a little sore tomorrow or just work out again?

I am liking that I am getting results pretty fast, but I heard if you over-work the muscle you wont gain anything, is this true?

...Thanks for the help.

(BTW, the soreness is chest, biceps, shoulders, and trapezius,) but it's mainly the trapezius that is mostly sore.

you need to consume more protein. It will help you recover faster.

If its your first time doing weights in a while then you are going to be sore for a day or two afterwards.

I usually hurt the most on the 2nd day and I stretch on my rest day. It makes it feel soooo much better...If it's just a little sore I'd still go. Since you're just starting again it's to be expected.

Do what I do. I do cardio one day, lower body/legs another day, and upper body the third day. This routine seems to be working well for me.

If you focus too much on certain muscles and don't let them fully recover you run the risk of tearing them.
