Technology VCR To PC

Hey Guys Just wondering i have heaps of rare Video Taps and i want to back them up to my pc but i seem to be having some problems..

I have a pinacle card in my pc which allows me to plug my vcr into my pc it also allows me to back up etc... the problem im having is that i can't hear sound comming out the speakers when im playing the video tape through the pinnacle card but as soon as i turn off the pc the sound comes through..

I dont know what the problem is any help would be appreciated

OK i edited but basically what im saying is that when the pc is on i cant hear the sound from whatever im playing in the VCR but once i turn the PC off the sound comes through..

What type of cable are you using to connect the vcr to the pc?

He is probably using RCA coop.
