Honestly, you guys have no grasp of England at all. We have pretty much nothing in common with Europe. We are in a geographical location called Europe that is it. We are almost the same as America, except we have a history and more culture. I'd say we have more in common with Australia and America than any European country.
We move out as soon as is financially possible. And I'd imagine our ratio of single parent families is also pretty high (Governments fault). In England, and this is a negative point, we are not very family orientated. The opposite of Italy or Spain.

Of course every European nation has it's own quirks and peculiarities but in general western Europe (Benelux, Germany, England, north of France, Scandinavia) have a lot of similarities. Closer to each other than southern and eastern european countries.
