Honestly, you guys have no grasp of England at all. We have pretty much nothing in common with Europe. We are in a geographical location called Europe that is it. We are almost the same as America, except we have a history and more culture. I'd say we have more in common with Australia and America than any European country.


We move out as soon as is financially possible. And I'd imagine our ratio of single parent families is also pretty high (Governments fault). In England, and this is a negative point, we are not very family orientated. The opposite of Italy or Spain.

But England is very similar to the States. Far more so than to France or Spain.

Well, Spain and Portugal I regard as medit. cultures Of course every European nation has it's own quirks and peculiarities but in general western Europe (Benelux, Germany, England, north of France, Scandinavia) have a lot of similarities. Closer to each other than southern and eastern european countries.

well Ireland was like that for the past 10 years or so. during the economic boom young people could afford to move out early, get their own place etc. but now its back to the way it was. no work for graduates and young people in this shithole these days so its back to the old days and emigration is on the rise again. all the older generation who pretty much brought this country to its knees still have their cushy jobs in the public sector and then have the nerve to go on strike over a pay deduction.

this country is just so corrupt and its sickening what goes on here. if i cant find a job here soon. (i have two degrees and still am finding it hard to get something) ill seriously consider getting the hell out of here.

so yea id probably like to live somewhere else at this moment in time. id like to go to Canada or Australia maybe.

I can tell you that most Mediterranean and Eastern Europeans stay with their parents until marriage, or at least until they finish their education and get a job. There are exceptions, but for the most part - that's how we do.

In Germany, getting married plays just a minor part in this situation. Usually you move out if you have a job. Or earlier, if you study somewhere else, that is too far away from home.

Come to Canada. If I recall you have a masters in civil engineering? My cousin just got his bachelors in that this May and had job offers like woah but decided to do his masters. You won't have trouble finding work here.

nah i dont have a masters. just an honours degree in construction management and another degree in Health and Safety.I also have experience at working as a draftsman or a CAD Technician. i was considering doing a masters but i dont really want to. I have had enough of study and all that. So if nothing comes up here soon, ill have to move i think or else go do something completely different.

Yeah same here but most people get married only after they have a job and are ready to move out. Then they usually move out as couples, it's easier with combined resources.

I guess Polish mentality is in between the western one and eastern european at the same time.

I don't think that England is that very similar to the US. Maybe the country is trying to go that way but people are different. It's a specific country but then again if you really get into it then you find out that every European country is different, even is some feel alike at first.

Also, student loans are the most favorable loans a person can get in the US so they take advantage of that. So for many students, the money ISN'T there. But with a combination of scholarships, student loans, money from part time jobs, and credit cards, they are able to do it.

I will agree that if there's a will, there's a way. Some people just don't want to make the necessary lifestyle changes to make room for such travels.

For me, it's the opposite. I've been to more countries than US cities. I've only been to NY at the airport, Portland in Oregon, and Vegas. I also spent two days somewhere in Georgia for a thing but that's it.

Studying abroad is like a vacation for most students. A buddy of mine took just one semester of elementary French and then went abroad to Paris for the summer. Paid for through scholarships. No one gives a shit about cultures. People that aren't 21 just wanna go drink some place far away and fuck hairy-pitted women.

I've been around a good bit of places, both in the US and overseas. I've seen all types of places, not just developed countries. So I've seen a good bit. Sure, I'd like to see a mountainous and volcanic region soon, but as far as a lot of the other types of places like the rainforest, desert, etc. I've been in them. For a fucking long time.
